The post Will there be a Season 2 of Woman of the Dead? first appeared on Ready Steady Cut.

We are discussing if there will be a Season 2 of the Netflix series Woman of the Dead and its renewed and canceled status.

Woman of the Dead is a television series adapted from a book of the same name written by Bernard Aichener. The series focuses on a small-town undertaker who finds himself on the path of no return after the death of her husband. The big question everyone is asking is if the show will get a season 2. We take a look at the possibilities below.

What is The Woman of the Dead about?

The series follows Brunhilde Blum (Anna Maria Muhe), an undertaker from a small town in the Austrian mountains who, after the death of her husband, begins to investigate the murder on her own. Throughout this process, she peels off the dirty and ugly layers of the small town, making things quite dangerous for herself. Nicholas Rohde directed the six episodes of the series which stars Anna Maria Mühe in the lead role of Brunhilde Blum, with Felix Claire playing Herr Blum and Youssef Joe Sweid like Reza Shadid.

Will there be a Season 2 of Woman of the Dead?

At the moment, there is no indication whether or not the series has been renewed for a second season. That said, there are two things that Woman of the Dead has in its favor.

First, the series has garnered a lot of praise from its audience right now, with 19 ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 95%. Another thing to point out is that the series has seen a surge in popularity on IMDb, rising to 178th overall from 3,311. It also sits at a 6.8 out of 10 rating on IMDb (965 ratings ). Word of mouth is therefore starting to circulate, which means that more and more people will check out the series.

The second thing Woman of the Dead has the advantage of being the first of three volumes of a trilogy. The other two books translated into English are house of death (Totenhaus) and Ecstasy of the dead (Totenrausch). So you have the basic idea of what Season 2 would look like from a writing perspective. Also, because of that, you could quickly shoot another season much faster. So when you take those two things into account, season two could be quite attractive for netflix.

Another interesting tidbit, while I was research, found that writer Bernhard Aichner had said he hoped to see his second and third books come to life as a series. With her openness to the idea, that could work in the show’s favor.

house of death (Totenhaus) the synopsis reads as follows Two heads and four legs were found in a coffin during an exhumation at an Innsbruck cemetery. It quickly becomes clear that it must be a crime that the body parts of an actor who disappeared without a trace a year ago lie here. Only one person can be considered the author: the undertaker who treated and enshrined the deceased at the time. There is no doubt that Brünhilde Blum killed the actor. But it was swallowed up from the face of the earth…

So we have season two which can explore Blum not just as a suspect in the crimes, but as someone who is on the run. Finding out how it all would shake would be a lot of fun.

Woman of the Dead Season 2 Potential Release Date

As I mentioned above, the series already has a book that can be written into a screenplay. Because of this, you’re looking at a much faster turnaround time than you might typically see. Plus, the show had a team of writers who tackled the first book, so if we get the renewal, they can quickly get back to the drawing board to bring season two to life.

That said, we could be looking at early 2024 for season two coming to Netflix. If there are any changes or updates in the announcement for Season 2 of the series, we’ll be sure to let you know.
