ozark, You better call Saul, stranger things. What do these shows have in common?
Lots of things, actually. Whether it’s the simple fact that they’re streaming on Netflix or that a lot of people love them.
Not those though. It’s that they recently had split seasons. Indeed, you will be aware and perhaps irritated that Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area has earned the same treatment, albeit with its first season.
The South Korean television series is set in the same universe as its predecessor, Money Heist, and introduces audiences to a perilous hostage crisis on the Korean peninsula. Although the feel is the same, the change of location plays a huge part in the series and many of you will no doubt be hooked.
Wanting to continue the story, a pressing question emerged regarding Money Heist: Korea part 2…

As for the status of the project, you’ll be pleased to hear that the show’s cast members have already told Newsweek that the next episodes have been filmed. The first season is made up of 12 episodes in total, so there are six more to enjoy down the line.

“It would be a completely different series”
However, not everyone is enamored with Money Heist Korea, and series director Kim Hong-sun recently reacted to the response that his show was too similar to its predecessor.
“Our series was a remake of the hit Spanish drama,” he told the Korea Herald. “I believe the process of creating a remake involves retaining the characteristics of the original, telling the story of the previous production, but using a different cast and setting.”
He went on to explain the creative choice to refer to the original:
“If these elements are not involved, then the series cannot be called a remake. If the gang doesn’t enter the mint, steal the mint, and complete their mission, then it’s not Money Heist. It would be a completely different series.
While there are strong similarities, there are a few tweaks to help recontextualize the story in response to the new setting which is welcome.
