Vikings: Valhalla’s main trio will venture to new lands in S2 after becoming fugitives

After the bloody finale of Vikings: The thrilling first season of Valhalla, Netflix fans are eagerly awaiting the next installment in the saga of Leif, Freydís and Harald.

The new season picks up the story after Season 1’s dramatic cliffhanger and sees the show’s main trio forced to flee and test their mettle beyond the Scandinavian fjords they once called home.

It’s been almost a year since Vikings: Valhalla was last on our screens and so fans are understandably eager to dive into the new episodes as soon as possible, but when exactly is season 2’s release time and what will the viewers can expect?


Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Plot Preview

Season 1 of Vikings: Valhalla was filled with twists and turns as it chronicled the adventures of three Viking heroes, Leif Erikson, Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and Harald Sigurdsson.

After their respective journeys took them down a warpath in England and on an introspective quest to Uppsala in the heart of Sweden, their paths converged again in the finale when the Danish settlement of Kattegat came under attack.

The new season picks up the story shortly after the city’s tragic fall, leaving the trio on the run and with their former lives in tatters.

To survive, Leif, Freydís and Harald must venture to worlds beyond the Scandinavian fjords that were once their home.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 release date and time

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 will be released on Netflix on Thursday, January 12, 2023 and will be available at midnight US Pacific Time.

As with most Netflix newcomers, Season 2 will be releasing worldwide at the same time and for fans watching in different time zones around the world, this translates to:

  • 12pm PT in the US
  • 3 a.m. ET in the United States
  • 8am GMT in the UK
  • 9am CET in Europe
  • 1:30 p.m. IST in India
  • 7pm AEDT in Sydney, Australia

How many episodes in season 2?

Season 2 of Vikings: Valhalla will consist of eight episodes in total.

This number should come as no surprise to fans of the first season as it also included eight chapters.

Fans will also be pleased to know that Season 2 episodes will be released in one user-friendly pack, allowing viewers to watch at their own pace without having to wait each week for new episodes or a “Part 2” like us. we’ve seen with an increasing number of Netflix series lately.

Beyond its second season, it has already been confirmed that Vikings: Valhalla will return for a third installment.

When production company MGM TV first announced the series, it was revealed that they had placed an order for 24 episodes and after season 1 was released on Netflix, it was officially announced that all 16 episodes remaining would make up Seasons 2 and 3 with eight chapters each.

Vikings: Valhalla season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix starting Thursday, January 12, 2022.
