Since the old man is only a few days old, it is imperative that the brothers stick together. The search for John Nolan’s true identity will continue as usual, but we may have to wait until he encounters something truly surprising or life-changing before we learn more. In Episode 8, “Hit and Run,” Detective Angela Lopez loses her head over her husband’s job for an evil crime boss. He then refuses to let her help him, which only makes her angrier. He joins Officer Nolan as he investigates a sexual assault report. A man claiming to be a ruler attacked an IRS agent. Meanwhile, Sergeant Bradford’s sister Gennifer comes to town to talk about their father, but he’s not in the mood for it.
Gennifer’s goal is to sell the house his father built and he needs Bradford’s help. She has ideas in mind to make the house more salable and therefore more valuable to her. At Marvin Reynolds’ home, Lopez and Nolan interview the alleged attacker, Marvin Reynolds. While searching his home, they discover various weapons that indicate a terrorist plot. It is Cooper Sanford who introduces Reynolds to the idea of identifying himself as a radical ruler after his gun shop is confiscated.
When Lopez and Nolan meet Cooper in a garden, he is tackled by Lopez when he is ready to escape. However, this is a way for her to vent some of her frustrations and express herself. He apologizes immediately when Nolan tells him. Over the course of the conversation, the two men realize that Reynolds has plotted to kill as many people as possible, which is why the whole city is hunting him down. Upon learning that their father is dying, Gennifer informs Bradford that he will never see him again.
In the past, Bradford has been physically and emotionally abused, and doesn’t want to go through it again. Reynolds was found by police near the naval museum where he worked. When he tries to shoot the police, he gets shot. With Nolan’s help, Bradford realizes how important it is for his sister to have him around. Meanwhile, Lopez’s husband approaches Sergeant Gray and says he will be a police informant.
