We recap the Netflix K-Drama series The Interest of Love Season 1 Episode 8, which contains spoilers.

I really felt like it was going to be boring K-drama, but slowly and surely it becomes an interesting and fractured love story. Two people who want to be each other’s person, broken by lack of courage and lack of communication, consoling themselves to go out with other people. Everything will surely go wrong for Ahn Su-yeong (Moon Ga-young) and Ha Sang-su (Yoo Yeon-seok).

Love Interest Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

To open episode 8 of season 1, Mid-gyeong expresses his happiness to Sang-su. She likes to be with him; she wants to know everything about him, including his childhood. Sang-su describes how her mother was a strong person. Mi-gyeong tells Sang-su that she feels like her mother has gotten younger as she gets older. Later that evening, Mi-gyeong goes to his house and tells him that she will stay at his house.

Jong Hyeon unsure if he wants to move in with Su-yeong, despite the trip to his apartment. He hesitates, but Su-yeong insists that their plan come true. She tries to be as accommodating as possible which is nice.

At work the next day, co-workers applaud Sang-su and Mi-gyeong for forming an official relationship. Privately, Su-yeong praises Sang-su for her relationship with Mi-gyeong; there is an air of sadness between them. Later, co-workers learn that Mr. Yuk is being disciplined for his work misconduct that targeted Su-yeong. Su-yeong appreciates Sang-su for reporting him and calls him a good man. Is it true that Su-yeong wants something she can’t have?

During dinner with the family, Mi-gyeong tells her parents that she is dating someone. They immediately want to know if this man she is dating is good enough, which irritates her. She hates that no one ever trusts her. Her father asks her mother to investigate who she is dating.

At a social event at work, Mi-gyeong introduces herself and tells Sang-su that her father wants her to find a potential partner. She teases him, claiming they should move their relationship to something more engaging, but then invites him to play virtual golf.

The next day, it is revealed that it is Su-yeong’s birthday. She goes to her parents’ restaurant and they prepare food for her. She clearly likes to keep her birthday low-key. However, she soon enters a surprise anniversary dinner hosted by Mi-gyeong, Jong-hyeon, and Sang-su – it’s a couple event. Sang-su planned all the food – he still cares deeply about her. In the bathroom, Su-yeong notices a piece of art she liked that was expensive; Mi-gyeong bought it, further signifying her status.

It’s a super awkward birthday dinner — Su-yeong and Sang-su struggle to keep their feelings at bay. Mi-gyeong leads the conversation, seemingly unaware of the embarrassment. Jong-hyeon has to reveal to the table that he failed his exam. Su-yeong has her back and tells the table that he’ll pass next time.

The next day, Su-yeong asks Jong-hyeon if they should reveal to their co-workers that they are in a relationship, but he tells her that they are not like Mi-gyeong and Sang-su as he doesn’t want her to. people talk about it. behind their back. Su-yeong looks disappointed.

Mi-gyeong’s mother ends up following her daughter in Sang-su’s car, looking for who her boyfriend is. An ironic scene, where she does not know that she is sitting exactly next to her daughter’s boyfriend. But then Mi-gyeong calls her, and the mother puts her on speakerphone and she learns the truth – that Sang-su is the boyfriend.

And so, Sang-su has an impromptu dinner with the mother and Mi-gyeong. It is basically an interview for Sang-su as he is asked about his career, family, hobbies, and academia. The question of marriage then arises, putting an awkwardness on the table. Sang-su reminds the mother that they just started dating, but he doesn’t take the relationship lightly.

The ending explained

As we near the end of a work event (again!), Su-yeong and Sang-su continue to yearn for each other. So many things left unsaid that they both pursue with their current partners. They both say they decided to honor the choice they made. But there is always a fear that the desire for each other lingers.

At the end of the episode, Su-yeong arrives at her hotel room and Jong-hyeon calls her. She tells him that she is sleeping at her friend’s house, but is actually in a hotel room. Episode 8 then shows Sang-su walking towards the door of a hotel room. Su-yeong opens the door to her hotel room, but is it clear that it’s Sang-su? No. But how outrageous it would be if these two started an affair. It completely changes the story.

Episode 8 is the best chapter so far as the story starts to pick up speed.
