A subplot involving Maggie McPherson is her case against a sex trafficker named Angela Soto. He brought Filipino women into the country, where they are forced to work and eat leftovers. When Maggie thinks she had him dead by right at the start of a grand jury, Soto has his only witness killed. No worries, she dusts off her jacket and gets a mole. Soto’s girlfriend is now pregnant with his child. Maggie and Detective Lankford even have her wear a wire, where Soto finds and nearly kills her. Unfortunately, the thread has malfunctioned and is unusable. They will need their mole to testify.
Lincoln’s lawyer season 1 – Does Maggie win her lawsuit against Angelo Soto?
No she doesn’t. You see, Detective Lankford turned out to be a corrupt cop who had another cop who threatened a witness in the Jesus Menendez murder trial to leave town. Once that came out, most of Lankford’s work was thrown out, and Maggie’s case was closed by new state attorney Robert Cardone.
Soto gets away with it?
Maggie has been demoted and she sees the writing on the wall, but it doesn’t matter. DA comes and goes, but she doesn’t. So when Soto is released, he looks at her smugly at the hearing. However, McFierce has a plan. You see, she always does. The US Attorney’s office storms the court. Maggie turned over all the evidence she had and they chose to press charges against Angelo. He was arrested for human trafficking and criminal association.
When Soto threatens her into leaving court, she assures him that the Feds have deep pockets and all the time in the world. But be sure that if he skates, she will see him again. Why? Like she said, DA comes and goes, but she’ll be there waiting for him.
God, I love this woman.
