The Interest of Love Season 1 Episode 4 Recap – Will Ha Sang-su and Ahn Su-yeong make it? first appeared on Ready Steady Cut.

We recap the Netflix K-Drama series The Interest of Love Season 1 Episode 4, which contains spoilers.

love interest loves filler scenes, and that’s not a good thing. It seems to hinge solely on a potential romance, which seems predictable at this point. Fortunately, Ahn Su-yeong (Moon Ga-young) and Ha Sang-su (Yoo Yeon-seok) are somewhat interesting characters, but I’m already losing patience with the story. Anyway, let’s recap episode 4.

Love Interest Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

Episode 4 opens with colleagues at the bank talking about the approach of the new year. Ahn Su-yeong and Han Sang-su seem to be getting along well. In a moment of kindness, Su-yeong helps Sang-su with an administrative task they are doing. It’s a flashback. Su-yeong asks Sang-su if he comes from a wealthy family. Sang-su tells him that growing up, he felt like the “ugly duckling”. This flashback shows a romance between them that has been bubbling for some time.

In the present, Su-yeong and Sang-su continue to argue about breaking up their potential relationship. Su-yeong points out that Sang-su chose not to go on their date. She saw him from the restaurant window. Scenes show Sang-su changing his mind and turning around. She wonders if it was because she wanted a firm and committed relationship. The fact that Sang-su lied the next day didn’t help.

Sang-su tells Su-yeong that he wanted to take her seriously and even thought about marrying her. He doesn’t know why he hesitated on the night of the date and he tried to rush to the restaurant. He’s upset that he didn’t get a chance to explain himself. He asks Su-yeong if she had feelings for him. Su-yeong confirms that she had feelings and felt they were similar, but she’s not sorry that they didn’t work out.

Episode 4 shows Sang-su at a memorial service for his late father. He pays homage. His mother told him he didn’t need to come. She tells Sang-su that when he was younger, he never asked for anything, even though he struggled. The only thing he wanted was ice hockey. The mother asks Sang-su if he is happy, but he does not answer. He says that being happy means living without regrets. Flashbacks show her father struggling with money. He wishes he had arrested his father the morning he killed himself.

Mid-gyeong wants to continue socializing with Su-yeong and invites her for wine. Su-yeong looks around her apartment with interest, seeing the materialistic items that come with money. Su-yeong paints on one of Mi-gyeong’s old handbags and she is impressed.

And then, Mi-gyeong asks Su-yeong if things are weird between her and Sang-su. Su-yeong responds by asking Mi-gyeong if she likes Sang-su. Mi-gyeong smiles, revealing that she has feelings for Sang-su. Su-yeong keeps her cards close to her chest and wonders why Mi-gyeong would even love a man like Sang-su. Mi-gyeong opens up and tells him that Sang-su is sensitive to feelings, thoughtful, and attentive. This makes Su-yeong think deeply of Sang-su. Does she regret how it went between them?

Later, at dinner, Mi-gyeong tells Sang-su that she likes him, which surprises him. Sang-su hesitates at first, but then he remembers how he hesitates with Su-yeong. However, Mi-gyeong isn’t bothered if he doesn’t immediately reciprocate. Deep down, Sang-su can’t stop thinking about Su-yeong.

Su-yeong experiences a career setback at the bank. Mr. Yuk tells her that she will not progress, but that she will continue to do what she is already doing. In the bathroom, Su-yeong hands a project to Mi-gyeong at Mr. Yuk’s request. Mi-gyeong apologizes, knowing that she put a lot of effort into the project.

Su-yeong confides Jong Hyun then on life and tribulations. Jong-hyun tells him that he doesn’t mind people looking down on him because he knows life will get better. He has dreams. This seems to give Su-yeong some perspective.

At a staff dinner, a man takes an interest in Su-yeong and Sang-su just sits there doing nothing. Another man offers him a drink. Sang-su tells her that she shouldn’t drink so much, but she continues.

The ending explained

The episode ends with Sang-su following Su-yeong through the park. He remembers why he loves her. Knowing he’s there, Su-yeong turns around and asks why he followed her. Sang-su tells her that it is dangerous to be alone so late.

Su-yeong asks Sang-su if he still loves her and states that it will be useless if he even does, as he won’t do anything about it anyway. Sang-su asks if what he did was unforgivable. Su-yeong hints that she still has feelings, and they look at each other intently, but then Jong-hyun calls Su-yeong, removing any tension between them.

But Sang-su decides to act and he grabs her for a hug. Maybe they’ll start a romance after all.

The story is too shaky with filler scenes and unnecessary context.
