*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for Hunters Season 2*
It’s been a long wait for fans of the Prime Video Hunters series, but after almost three years, the series starring Al Pacino is finally back for its second season.
As in the real world, several years have passed since we last caught up with Meyer’s Nazi-hunting team and when the new season begins, the various members have been scattered around the world.
There are several clues in the early episodes of Hunters season 2 that something happened in Spain involving Jonah that caused the team to go their separate ways, but what exactly was the shocking incident?

An incident in Spain caused the separation of the Hunters
After a series of flashbacks, the main plot of Hunters season 2 begins in 1979, two years since we last met Jonah and the team in the season 1 finale.
However, the various members of the team start the season scattered around the world and we catch up with a more mature Jonah as he searches for Biff Simpson, an undercover Nazi agent, in a Parisian brothel.
When Jonah finally catches up with his target, Biff tries to save his own skin by offering information on the whereabouts of Adolf Hitler, who managed to fake his own death and moved to South America in the fictional timeline of the emission.
However, Biff also goads Jonah, mocking how an incident in Spain caused the hunting party to split up.
What happened with Jonah in Spain in Hunters season 2?
Jonas killed a child while hunting a Nazi in Spain.
Throughout the early episodes of Season 2, there are several references to the incident in Spain with Jonah even saying in Episode 2 that he “thinks about that boy every day.”
However, it will be until Episode 6 that the extent of his actions are revealed and it is revealed that he accidentally killed a child while on a mission to track down a Nazi officer in Spain.
The gruesome fact is brought up as Jonah argues with his fiancée, Clara, who previously had no idea of his true identity or his Nazi-hunting deeds.
She asks him if he really killed a child and he explains that the boy’s death was an accident because the Nazi he was hunting used his grandson as a shield in hopes of protecting himself.
The incident sent shockwaves throughout the group and eventually led to them going their separate ways.
A bump in the road for Jonah and Clara’s relationship
The gruesome revelation appears to be the end of Jonah’s relationship with Clara, as she says she “can’t marry a murderer” and “can’t love” a monster.
By the end of the season, however, Jonah has managed to track down the greatest Nazi of them all, Adolf Hitler, who ends the season behind bars, though Jonah is seriously injured in the process.
When Jonah regains consciousness in the hospital, Clara is there to greet him and it seems like she is ready to forgive his actions as she believes that with Hitler’s capture, Jonah’s life can return to normal.
Eventually the couple get married and the season ends with them enjoying their honeymoon together in Miami.
However, despite apparently putting his Nazi-hunting days behind him, Jonah overhears a German in the restaurant where they are sitting and a spark of rage ignites within him once again as the credits roll.
