Ex-KGB spy says a drop of radioactive poison killed Nevsky, imagine what he could do with a bomb of that stuff. That’s enough of a threat to Lamb, who offers to meet Nikolai at the Russian’s offices.

This explains why River was spared in the first place. River fears that everything will happen again, he makes the same mistake for the second time.

Unaware of the consequences, River calls Diana and explains that the bomb is just a hoax. It may be too little too late, as MI5 has its targets locked on Alex’s plane. Slow Horses Season 2 Ending Explained

Lamb and Nikolai reunite for their final showdown. The two veterans salute each other with raised rifles. Lamb admits he knew the threat was a lie, but he had to see it in person, with his own eyes. Lamb is impressed however, Nikolai cheated on them all for years. And then he used Upshott as the perfect distraction. What Nikolai really wants to know is about of the man Lamb killed. It is then revealed that Charles Partner was an undercover opposition agent. Lamb killed Charles because he was a traitor. Nikolai is sad that Charles was killed and Lamb mourns Dickie. The dying Russian has one last question, was he responsible for Charles’ death?

Our vulgar head of Slough House, Jackson Lamb, admits he was the one who slipped up, not Nikolai. The Russian spy then confesses to wanting revenge for Charles’ death and he first tried to professionally humiliate Lamb and his employees. Lamb jokes that the gang is already dishonored, what more can you do? Nikolai then divulges even more information, he was tasked with overseeing Nevsky’s disappearance and recovering the money Nevsky stole. This is where Pashkin entered into the scheme.

The scene then intersects with a few others to create suspense. André arrives on a sleepy country track. River gets out of a plane and takes him across a field. Andre then knocks on a door, ready with his gun. He’s River’s grandfather, David Cartwright who answers the door as gunshots can be heard. But David is the victor, taking down Andre first. Nikolai realizes that Lamb is one step ahead of him. Lamb knew they would target David and he was warned. Nikolai demands his own quick death, but Lamb refuses to shoot him. The Russian spy ends up committing suicide.

Diana provides Judd with a debrief of the entire saga. Judd is annoyed by the whole debacle and wants to blame it all on River. Diana thinks it’s best to lie and keep it a secret. They instead decide to blame the prime minister, talking about defense systems in need of an upgrade. Later, Lamb visits Diana and asks Min Harper to get a good start. Diana however refuses. Louisa attends Min’s small funeral service and quickly leaves in tears. The gang meets at another church in town, where Lamb originally wanted Min’s service to take place. They put a plaque for the fallen comrade, then Lamb places a note for Dickie, but the piece of paper soon falls to the ground. Lamb had a real soft spot for Dickie. It’s likely that he appreciated Dickie’s efforts to succeed as an undercover agent all those years, sacrifices that at the very least deserve to be rewarded or acknowledged.
