Servant Season 3 Trailer Breakdown – Theories & All Our Questions So Far

December 14, 2021

The Apple TV + Servant Season 3 trailer has just been released and we have so many questions. Our favorite wine-drinking family may have dodged last season’s bullet, but it didn’t come out of the woods. The last time we left Julian, Sean, Dorothy, and Leanne, things had taken an even darker turn (which says a lot about a series that has only ever worked in the shadows). Despite the creepy cult insisting on returning Leanne to “the light,” they seem much more concerned with keeping her shrouded in darkness. The Turners and Julians had tracked down Josphine, whom they had willingly let into their house in the hopes of getting Jericho back.

Josephine had other plans and intended to force Leanne into the “return” process in some way. This process involved self-harm, blindness, cutting of the limbs and finally the burn. Ironically, Josphine is the one who stabbed herself, was blinded, sliced and burned. Did Joséphine know from the start that she would be “returned” in place of Léanne? Leanne left it to rot behind the basement wall. Before all of this happened, however, Josephine attacked Sean and worked on Dorothy’s poor muddled mind. We’ll have to wait and see if her attempts to get Dorothy remembered will be successful in Season 3 of Servant.

By the end of the episode, Jericho and the Turners were a happy family with Leanne. Although she is happy to be with her new family, she worries that there is a growing darkness within her. They all fear worship will come for them.

Yellow balloons

The blue ball that prevails in seasons 1 and 2 has given way to a yellow. The balloon which originally signified the male sex of Jericho and most likely contained his spirit had essential meanings as well. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen other colorful balloons. In Season 1, Episode 7 Haggis, there are pink / purple colored balloons that release the essence of the heather. Then the color was chosen to match the ingredient Sean was introducing. Now the balloon that we see floating is yellow.

The family has it all apparently with Jericho back and Leanne and Dorothy on very good terms. Yellow often symbolizes happiness and optimism, but a darker side of the color can also represent caution, betrayal, insanity, and physical illness. Dorthy is definitely running out of a few pencils, and Julian and Sean are both having trouble. If the blue balloon contained Jericho’s spirit when Leanne went with the cult in the Season 1 finale, could the yellow balloon now contain a sick version of his spirit? Elsewhere in the trailer, Dorothy holds the Reborn doll again, looking horrified. Does she finally remember things, or is Jericho missing again? Read here what blue symbolizes.

Leanne’s purple ribbon in her hair

Color theory has always played an important role in Servant. Everything, from the meticulously chosen scenography to everyone’s clothes, is chosen to be provocative. This seems to stay constant in Servant Season 3. In the trailer, Leanne has a ribbon wrapped in her hair in a scene where she blames Dorothy for being too controlling. Oddly enough, the balloon that held the heather in Haggis is similar in color to the ribbon Leanne braided in her hair. Purple is a reflection of luxury and nobility but also of mystery and magic. All seem to embody the strange young woman.

 They are still in hell

Whether you think it is figuratively or literally, the Turners are going through a rough patch. Dorothy can dress Jericho up and throw any party she wants, but something is happening for them, and she has a huge secret vibrating in her brain. In the trailer, Dorothy is seen holding the horrified Reborn doll. Does she finally remember? Plus, in the scene pictured above, Dorothy looks rude. Zooming in on the image, it looks like she’s vomited on her chin, and Julian is holding her with her eyes open as if she’s dead. One of the craziest theories I have put forward is that the whole group died, having committed suicide and in hell. Dorothy’s red dress and Julian’s Faustian green outfit certainly hint at it.

It’s also possible that Sean is the only living person left and is haunted by the ghosts of Julian and his wife, who both committed suicide in the house. His selfless need to feed the homeless children in the park is probably an act of contrition. He tries to right his past mistakes and thank Jericho for giving it back. However, these children may not be all they appear to be, and just as Agent Smith can assimilate anyone connected to the Matrix, so perhaps the Church can recruit and convert anyone. at any time. The extremely dirty and empty looks of the children reminds me of Uncle George, and we know how it turned out.

 Leanne is the devil

Leanne looks a lot more like her age and looks less like Nell from The Last Exorcism. All last season, she slowly came out of her shell, wearing more stylish clothes and styling her hair in a more modern way. In the trailer for Servant Season 3, she changed noticeably. She wears makeup, has layered and curled her hair and no longer wears dirty clothes. This isn’t a cause for alarm per se, but coupled with his mocking demeanor towards Dorothy, his strange dance in the attic, and his chilling revelation to Sean that God didn’t bring Jericho back, the signs seem to indicate that Leanne has. less angelic and more demonic powers. All last season she struggled with the dark side of herself.

Even though Leanne is not mean, she is maturing. Anyone who has a teenage daughter knows they can look a lot like demons, and Leanne and Dorothy are clearly up against the rules. Dorothy is an overprotective mother and Leanne is a powerful young woman. Dorothy must follow Sean and Julian’s advice and be careful or risk her anger. Leanne has killed before and will probably kill again. The images she has drawn in her book have an eerie quality as if we are looking at the work of a Valkyrie. The flying black-winged creature might indicate that Leanne is a Valkyrie who decides who lives and dies and where they go when they do. Semi-divine creatures are also wreaking havoc on Earth.

 Some other quirks

There’s a lot of talk about parasites, from the homeless teens Sean feeds to the bugs that swarm inside the Turner’s party. Did Leanne spark the end of time? Did the Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse begin to ride horses? The two names the band sings at the party are Mathew and Ella. Mathew means gift from God, and Ella means goddess. Finally, the illustration for the season shows three shaded figures. The two smaller ones could be Dorothy and Sean, but who’s the much bigger central figure?

Leanne considers all of the Turners to be her family now. She won’t let the Church or anyone else break them. This includes the Turners themselves. So who to trust and who is dangerous? We will have to wait to see. Servant Season 3 premieres January 21 on Apple TV +. Until then, catch up on all of our Servant coverage, including theories and analyzes.
As a TV / streaming editor for Signal Horizon, I love watching and write on genre television. I grew up with old school slashers, but my real passion is TV and everything weird and ambiguous. When I’m not watching or writing about my favorite movies and series, I introduce my family to the wonderful world of science fiction, fantasy and horror. My only regret, there is not enough time in the day to watch everything.<span id=
