The public was very well received at the cinema by the blockbusters in 2021.
With the likes of DuneNo time to dieand beyond offering a show on the big screen, it was a triumphant year for moviegoers.
However, one of the biggest blockbusters of the year was watched by the majority of viewers at home from their own sofa.
Of course, we are talking about a red notice.
Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the epic action comedy stars Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in all three lead roles.
While critics have generally not been very kind to this film, many moviegoers in general champion it as a fun and exhilarating heist film.
There are a few enjoyable adventure elements scattered all over the place, so maybe it’s fitting that Red Notice sneaks in on an Indiana Jones reference…

Indiana Jones Red Notice Reference Explained
Let’s set the scene.
Booth reveals to Hartley that the third Cleopatra Egg they are looking for is actually in Argentina rather than Egypt.
Only he knows this because it was inscribed on his late father’s watch which once belonged to Hitler’s art curator Rudolph Zeich. When the Third Reich fell in 1945, the curator fled Europe and arrived in Argentina with the egg.
So the two set off and navigate the Argentine jungles before stumbling upon a hidden bunker filled with a multitude of Nazi artifacts.
What do they find other than the third egg? Well, only the Ark of the Covenant.
It is an important narrative motif in The Raiders of the Lost Ark from 1981. The Nazis are looking for the relic in the film because Hitler believes it will ensure invincibility.
When Booth and Hartley search the artifacts in the bunker, they come across a crate labeled “Top Secret Army Intel 9906753. Do not open.”
It was the same ID number put on the crate that contained the Ark at the end of the Indiana Jones movie.

The red notice made me laugh! I really like it! I’m a fan of action movies and this one doesn’t take itself seriously at all. I even had an Indiana Jones Easter egg

“Indiana Jones is a great”
During a conversation with Hype, Ryan Reynolds was asked what the research looked like for his character, with the interviewer wondering if Indiana Jones had inspired him:
“There was no research. It was mostly us who were trying to embody our real characters to some extent. I have influences from the movies I watched as a kid. Certainly Indiana Jones is a big one. Thomas Crown case . “
He adds, “But no, it’s an action-adventure comedy that’s kind of swashbuckling. Three important personalities come together and benefit from this kind of dynamic. “
