After a limited theatrical release earlier in 2022, Last Seen Alive exploded onto Netflix in the US and fought its way to the top spot of the streamer’s Top 10.

Starring Gerard Butler and Jaimie Alexander as Will and Lisa, the film kicks into high gear when Lisa mysteriously disappears, leaving Will scrambling to find out where his wife has gone.

Last Seen Alive Plot Overview

Last Seen Alive tells the story of Will and Lisa Spann, a married couple whose relationship is on the verge of breaking up, with Lisa wanting the couple to spend some time apart.

The film begins with the couple driving to Lisa’s parents, but before they arrive Will has to stop to refuel.

But things take a sinister turn when Lisa walks out of the gas station store and mysteriously disappears without a trace.

What happened to Lisa?

Lisa was kidnapped by a man named Knuckles who was waiting for her outside the gas station.

After Lisa goes missing, Will quickly springs into action to try to find her and with the help of Detective Paterson, he reviews security footage from the gas station, having initially been told by the clerk, Oscar, that the cameras weren’t working. .

The footage points Will in the direction of Knuckles who is a former classmate of Lisa’s and a handyman who recently did work on his parents’ house.

When Will finally catches up to Knuckles, he subdues him and locks him in the trunk of his car after learning that Knuckles left Lisa with a man named Frank.

However, things get complicated when Will is caught speeding and is pulled over by the police. He is forced to flee into the woods when the officer asks to look in the trunk.

Will successfully evades arrest and finally reunites with the mysterious Frank who is a local drug kingpin and runs a meth lab in an old farmhouse, while one of his underlings turns out to be Oscar from gas station.

After an explosive confrontation, which sees both Frank and Oscar killed, Will finds Lisa alive and well in an addiction and he is able to get her to safety.

Last Seen Alive ending explained

As the film progresses, more details regarding Lisa’s abduction become clear through flashbacks.

It is revealed that it was Knuckles’ plan to kidnap Lisa and ransom her to fuel his drug addiction as he knew Will and his parents were financially well off.

However, when Knuckles presented this idea to Frank, the latter disapproved and ordered that Lisa be killed and her body buried to hide any evidence.

Luckily for Lisa, Will arrives on the scene and saves her before she gets hurt.

Detective Paterson stops by to check on the couple in the film’s final scene and reveals that Knuckles confessed to the kidnapping as he also hints that he suspects Will of killing several people at the meth lab but closes the doors. eyes as the destruction of the lab saved the police a job.

The ordeal turns out to be the spark that helps rekindle Will and Lisa’s marriage and they finish the movie together and live happily ever after.
