Kung Fu Panda: Dragon Knight fans are already hoping for a season 2

July 18, 2022

DreamWorks Animation has given audiences many family favorites over the years.

Looking back, one of the most beloved remains Kung Fu Panda, which introduced viewers to Jack Black’s titular panda, Po Ping, in 2008.

With a lot of talent on board – and a lot of excitement – it was exciting to see a franchise start to grow. We’ve had a number of movies now, but the most recent title is a series called Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.

Developed by Mitch Watson and Peter Hastings, it is actually the third television series in the Kung Fu Panda franchise and it premiered on Netflix on Thursday, July 14, 2022. After the events of Kung Fu Panda 3, Po leaves the house and embarks on a quest alongside a knight named Luthera the Wandering Blade.

After doing some quick work, some have already turned their hopes to more with Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 2.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Hasn’t Received The Season 2 Update Yet

Neither Netflix nor the creators of the series have announced a season 2 for Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.

Don’t let that put you off though. It’s important to recognize that it’s arguably a little too early to expect any concrete news on the renewal, as it was only recently released.

Famously, Netflix does not release viewership numbers to the public and the way to measure a show’s success is by seeing if and how well it ranks in Netflix’s top 10 categories. It’s currently listed in the popular TV category in a number of territories, which is definitely an encouraging sign.

It’s likely Netflix will be watching viewership closely throughout July before determining if the show is worthy of a renewal. We anticipate an announcement could arrive as early as August 2022.

Given that there are now three separate Kung Fu Panda series, The Dragon Knight may not continue in favor of presenting audiences with a new episodic adventure.

Fans are clamoring for season 2

Are people asking for more?

They certainly are, and some fans have already voiced their hopes for Season 2 on Twitter. Check out a selection of tweets:

“I think it continues”

During a recent chat with Coming Soon, The Dragon Knight executive producer Peter Hastings was asked if he was still interested in doing more in the world of Kung Fu Panda:

“To me, Po is really the driving force behind this thing, and he’s such a great character. He’s just one of those characters that becomes so well developed and people become so familiar with, that you can say, ‘What if Po opened a Kung Fu studio? What if Po bought a cruise ship? What if Po [does this]?’”

He added: “And it’s like if you know a funny character, you’re like ‘this could work’. There might be something there. It could do this…’ It’s like, ‘how are we going to have more fun with this character?’ You know? So I think it continues. »
