Jeff Lowe’s net worth in 2021 and how he explained the zoo

November 18, 2021

Looking back on 2020, arguably few shows have had such a big cultural impact as Tiger King.

The public needed entertainment more than ever and, thanks to good timing, Joe Exotic was crowned King of Containment.

Before the documentary was released, you would have been struggling to find a single friend or family who knew Joe.

Now his face has been on everything from t-shirts to coffee mugs, cementing him as a true celebrity and icon, albeit the most unexpected in some time.

Capitalizing on its success, Netflix recently launched Season 2 of Tiger King, which sees Joe now in jail and the filmmakers chat with a host of other characters who have appeared previously.

Among them, of course, is one of the most important components of the first season. After the colossal success of the documentary, what is Jeff Lowe’s net worth in 2021?

Jeff Lowe’s net worth in 2021

In 2021, Jeff Lowe is estimated to be worth around $ 5 million.

Along with his wife Lauren, Jeff owns the Greater Wynewood Exotic Animal Park, formerly owned by Joe Exotic.

While Season 2 explains that the park has become a popular destination for fans of the series after its popularity, that is not the source of its wealth.

It is suggested that the success of the documentary – along with his previous business – is the main source of his income, and in one episode he claims he has “more money than God right now” because of Tiger King.

Going through his history to potentially make up some of the money, he allegedly owned a pet business in Colorado and Las Vegas. This was followed by the launch of a chain of discount retail stores.

Beyond that, on the other hand, he’s also worked with such renowned figures as Evel Knievel and Prince in some capacity which has surely helped him earn a pretty dime over the years.

Season 2 also explores his criminal history prior to his time at Joe’s Zoo. Talking about that…

How did Jeff Lowe get the zoo from Joe Exotic?

Jeff had a background with animals long before the days explored in Tiger King season 1.

In fact, he was raised around exotic creatures. His grandfather actually founded Robin’s Brothers Circus in 1928, so growing up Jeff was given big cats for birthdays.

It wasn’t until 2015 that he and Joe crossed paths after the couple negotiated the sale of a teddy bear. The couple gradually began to form a relationship that became a kind of partnership.

Recognizing that the park was in trouble, Jeff invested in and moved some of his animals to the on-site enclosures. However, Carole Baskin later filed a lawsuit against Joe for copyright infringement and took $ 1 million from him, which forced Joe to file for bankruptcy.

Following this, Jeff and Lauren took over as owners of the park. He also informed the government of Joe’s activity once he discovered he was under investigation for a murder conspiracy.

“We put it back on its feet”

Around the time of Season 1’s release, Jeff shared his thoughts on how he was portrayed in an interview:

“They covered about 10% of the story and, you know, the portrayal of us stealing the zoo from Joe was very unfair because we came here to help him, we got him back on his feet. “

He added, “We left to move because we didn’t want to be at a zoo in Oklahoma, so the idea that we tried to steal the zoo from him is just ridiculous. “

Tiger King Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
