The greatest trilogies of all time… star wars‘ original race, Richard Linklater Before movies, Back to the future, The Godfather. Yes, very controversial.
There are plenty that promise audiences a perfect day on the couch, but let’s be real. Is there really anything more satisfying than getting lost in Middle-earth on a Sunday afternoon?
Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy remains arguably the most beloved fantasy film series ever to air. Of course, fans were thrilled to see him back in the director’s chair for three Hobbit movies down the line. Since then, on the other hand, many JRR Tolkien enthusiasts have held out hope that they will be able to explore more of this exhilarating world on screens.
Fear not, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is here. Well, it will be Friday, September 2, 2022.
The all-new series will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, but epic teasers have already encouraged viewers to ask questions. Namely, who is the composer behind The Rings of Power?

Who is the composer of The Rings of Power?
The masterful Howard Shore is the composer behind The Rings of Power.
Although Howard Shore has yet to explicitly confirm his role in the project, The One Ring reports that Amazon Prime Video revealed the news in a since-deleted Instagram comment that you can see in the tweet below.
A fan commented on some of the film’s marketing asking “Howard Shore is that you?” The official Amazon Prime Video account replied, “Yes, that’s Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore.”
It’s definitely the update audiences have been waiting to hear given that the 75-year-old Canadian maestro composed the scores for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
Other famous movies he worked his magic on include Big, Mrs. Doubtfire, philadelphia cream, New York Gangs and the aviator. He also frequently collaborates with body horror master David Cronenberg.

“I always had the book as a guide”
During an interview with Rhino, Howard Shore explained that he was a fan of the source material when he got the call to work on The Lord of the Rings and used the book as a constant reference while working:
“I always had the book as a guide. It was always open on my desk, and as I was creating thematic ideas and patterns for the film, I was always re-reading the book. All the time, but especially when I was marking specific scenes. I would go back to the book and read it again to get a taste of the story.
He added: “I read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings in the 60s when I was on the road for years traveling, and loved the books.”
Who will join Howard Shore?
