There’s a new spinoff series in town, eight episodes of a young adult comedy fantasy drama revolving around four characters following in the footsteps of the four main ones from the popular Netflix show On my block.
The series stars Keyla Monterosso Mejia, Bryana Salaz, Tenzing Norgay Trainor and Ciara Riley Wilson. Peggy Blow also appears in the new show along with a few others who are reprising roles from the previous series.
Freeridge takes place in the same universe as the popular show On my block, which ran for four seasons, consisting of thirty-eight episodes, between 2018 and 2021. This show also dealt with four main characters, dealing with the trials and tribulations of life in school and outside of Los Angeles. In addition to humor and relationships, there was always a hint of a more mystical side to On my blockand this is also the case in Freeridge, with our fantastic four apparently releasing a curse from a mysterious box that seems to affect their lives.
Sisters Gloria and Ines are always at each other’s throats, dealing with a myriad of issues in their lives, which also adds emotional resonance to the show. So there’s a lot going on in the spin-off, but the name of the series and the main point of this particular article has us wondering if Freeridge is real and where it was filmed.

Freeridge is heavily based on the town of Lynwwod, which is the hometown of co-creator Eddie González. About 15 minutes south of downtown Los Angeles, the suburb has a population of about sixty-eight thousand and is a major urban area of Los Angeles. Lynwood is near South Gate and Compton in the central part of the Los Angeles Basin.

From what we can find online, the production and filming of Freeridge took place from May 9, 2022 to July 5, 2022. As the show is a spin-off of On my blockit makes sense that the series was filmed in Los Angeles, California.
This makes sense since the show is set to take place in Los Angeles. Eagle-eyed fans On my block identified some scenes from this show that were filmed in Burbank. It was very difficult to determine the exact locations of filming, but some photos posted on social media by an assistant to the executive producers give the impression that the show was filmed in the same areas as On my blockso although the locations were difficult to find, we have an educated guess that Burbank and surrounding areas were the primary locations used.
