Is Devil in Ohio renewed for season 2?

No, neither Netflix nor the creators renewed Devil in Ohio for season 2 as the project was billed as a limited series.

With this in mind, the writers were able to take a “one-and-done” approach to the material and offer the audience a satisfying – albeit quite ambiguous – conclusion that doesn’t necessarily need to be expanded upon.

All eight episodes aired simultaneously, and as things stand, there’s no reason to anticipate additional episodes.

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE FINAL AHEAD

“I kissed the end”

Emily Deschanel (who plays Dr. Suzanne Mathis) recently spoke with Collider about the series ending and was asked how she felt reading it:

“I liked it because I hadn’t planned it. I thought it was a surprise, and I love surprises… It was a really interesting twist, and I liked it. I thought it was also fascinating for the character of Mae and what she does. It adds another layer of where her drive and instincts come from and what she’s really doing, and then it makes me wonder even more.

She continued: “Why did she do that? Would Suzanne forgive him? It is very possible. She does not see everything completely. There really is a shadow there that she can’t see. But I embraced the end. I found it satisfying, but I don’t know if everyone will find it satisfying.

Emily notes that the ending isn’t “as definitive, as neat, and as clean as some people might like,” which is probably why fans are curious about a second season. The conclusion was simply meant to be somewhat ambiguous and to provoke discussion.
