Described as a character-driven mystery thriller, The Rig follows the crew of the oil rig Kinloch Bravo after an unusual fog cuts them off from all communication. Stranded in the North Sea, the fate of the crew rests with their mighty leader Magnus as he does his best to guide his crew to safety.
The Prime series features an impressive cast list, with Iain Glen playing the role of team leader Magnus. Alongside Glen, Emily Hampshire stars as Rose – a no-nonsense corporate representative who’s more than skeptical when it comes to acknowledging the crew’s supernatural predicament.
Filmed in Scotland, audiences can expect more than a solid cast, as the stellar CGI and visual effects provide the perfect, spooky atmosphere for the series. The environment and the murderous waves of the North Sea play a crucial role in the plot.
Created by David Macpherson, The Rig promises something different for audiences. A rather unique premise, the series blends elements of horror, thriller, and subtle comedy to tell this treacherous tale of a hapless oil rig crew.
