Jett Simmons McBride is the then 54-year-old man whom Lawrence – real name Caleb Lawrence McGillvary – hit three times in the head with a hatchet shortly before the now-iconic interview that later landed him an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

McBride was eventually convicted of assault with a deadly weapon for the incident Lawrence interfered with, and McBride was sentenced to nine years in a mental health facility.
