The first episode of Ginny & Georgia season 1 saw the titular mother-daughter duo and nine-year-old Austin arrive in the town of Wellsbury, Massachusetts after leaving their old home and living in Texas behind them.
To say their welcome to Wellsbury wasn’t warm would be an understatement, but as the opening episodes progressed, the children quickly began to find their feet in their respective new schools while Georgia got a job as mayor where sparks quickly began to fly between her and Mayor Paul Randolph.
As Ginny, Georgia and Austin discovered more about their new town and their neighbors, fans also learned a lot about Wellsbury – from residents avoiding gossip, to unique rules in place to help local businesses.
One such local law that is mentioned in Season 2 is one that prevents chains such as McDonald’s from establishing franchises in the city, which has allowed cafes like Joe’s Blue Farm to thrive and become a hub. from the community.

Instead, the town is a fictional creation that was dreamed up for the series itself.

On top of that, while Ginny & Georgia is supposed to be set in Massachusetts, the production team behind the show didn’t even shoot in the New England state, and filming didn’t take place. place in the United States itself.

Ginny & Georgia was filmed in Toronto and Cobourg in the province of Ontario in Canada.
That’s right, not only was the show not filmed in Massachusetts where it’s supposed to be set, it wasn’t even filmed in the same country.
Many locations across Toronto and surrounding areas hosted filming, including TriBro Studios which hosted much of the show’s interior filming.
In addition to this, 46 Baby Point Crescent in the Parkdale-High Park neighborhood of York replaced Ginny, Georgia and Austin’s new home, while number 45 across the street doubled as the home of their neighbours, the Bakers according to Atlas Of Wonders.
Ginny’s Wellsbury High School was actually filmed at the now disused Nelson A. Boylen Collegiate Institute in the Toronto neighborhood of Rustic, which was open to students from 1966 until it closed in 2016.
Meanwhile, filming also took place in the suburban town of Cobourg, located about an hour’s drive from Toronto.
Here, the magnificent Victoria Hall, which serves as a town hall and multi-purpose venue, doubled as Wellsbury Town Hall
And finally, El Camino Spanish Restaurant, located at 74 King Street West in Cobourg, is the real home of Joe’s Blue Farm Café.
