Extraordinary Attorney Woo season 1, episode 14 recap

At the risk of repeating myself, the cases on this show rarely count on their own; they are a backboard for drama and character theming. All of this diversion, however, feels a bit unusually pointless, especially since “The Blue Night of Jeju II” is the second half of the affair we started in yesterday’s episode. Then again, that wasn’t necessarily the focus of this episode either.

But Myeong-seok’s ordeal is intentional. Remember how he remembered potentially making the wrong decisions in his life, pushing his ex-wife Ji-su away in the process? Well, that matters to Young-woo, especially in light of his budding relationship with Jun-ho. Can she make him happy? Will she inevitably turn him into a man like Myeong-seok, full of regrets while potentially on his deathbed? These are big questions that anyone can answer.

The result is that Jun-ho ends up heartbroken and more than a little confused; Young-woo’s inattentiveness is his autism manifesting in a way that’s not exactly charming, certainly not to him, but certainly honest and well-observed.

You’ll be pleased to learn that trading noodles equals earning in a fairly well-written way, although it did feel a bit overwhelming earlier on. But it still remains a sideshow, with the drama of the characters – especially Young-woo and Jun-ho – forming the main event. There are a few moves in the question of Young-woo’s parentage that will likely form the bulk of the drama in the final two episodes, but there’s something quietly tragic about this foundational love story, all the more so. that we know Young-woo tries to preserve Jun-ho’s feelings, but actually hurts him more than necessary because of his social ineptitude. It’s sad and truthful in that only the most compelling drama is.
