We’ve lived without Black Mirror for three whole years, and… finally, it’s coming back! Here’s a recap of all the info we have so far for the new season, including the cast, episode count, and more.
The one and only Black Mirror is back. Set in a dystopian future, Netflix’s hit series uses a unique narrative to explore human beings’ relationship with advanced technology. For the audience, it definitely changed our view of the future and opened our minds to new possibilities.
Now that it’s been confirmed that the Black Mirror team is actively working on new episodes, we can’t wait to see what they come up with this time around.

The new cast
According to Variety, Danny Ramirez, Zazie Beetz, Kate Mara, Clara Rugaard, Aaron Paul, Josh Hartnett, Auden Thornton, Anjana Vasan and Paapa Essiedu will join the cast of Black Mirror Season 6.
The new cast contains faces you may know from other hit shows. Aaron Paul is famous for playing Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad. He also voiced Todd in BoJack Horseman and starred in the final season of HBO’s Westworld. Kate Mara is Hayden in American Horror Story: Murder House, Zoe in House of Cards and Lana in Call Jane.

Zazie Beetz has had significant roles in Atlanta, Easy, Deadpool 2, and Joker and received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Performance. Danny Ramirez has been cast in Top Gun: Maverick, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and will be cast in the Sky series The Rising.

Additionally, we saw Auden Thornton in This Is Us and True Story, Clara Ruggard in Teen Spirit, Anjana Vasan in Killing Eve, Paapa Essiedu in The Lazarus Project, and Josh Hartnett in Penny Dreadful.
Episodes
Season 6 will have more episodes than Season 5, which had three. The cast we mentioned above will only appear in the first three episodes of the new season. Thus, there will be more stars to appear in other episodes.
The Black Mirror series has a history of casting A-list stars. Season 1 had Get Out protagonist Daniel Kaluuya and first female Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker. They invited Bryce Dallas Howard from the Jurassic World series and Jerome Flynn from Game of Thrones in season 2.
The End of the F***ing World’s Alex Lawther, House of Cards’ Michael Kelly, and Marvel star Letitia Wright have been cast in Season 3. In the final season, Miley Cyrus showed up. Therefore, it is very likely that Black Mirror Season 6 will follow its old tradition and some of the best actors will take leading roles.

Why is it so long?
Producer, Annabel Jones, and creator and lead writer, Charlie Brooker, both left Black Mirror’s original production company, House of Tomorrow, part of Endemol Shine, in early 2020.
With financial support from Netflix, they created a new company, called Broke & Bones in February 2020. With the rights to Black Mirror remaining in the hands of Endemol Shine, production halted until both parties come to an agreement.
