On August 19, Netflix releases Cleo, a violent and darkly comic thriller set in the world of female assassins and revenge. Will it be a Kill Eve imitation or something unique for fans of the genre? Time will tell, but in the meantime, here’s what we do know.
Netflix’s Kleo premise
We start in 1987 and Kleo has just eliminated her last target, but is arrested and imprisoned then abandoned, forgotten by her grandfather and the Stasi who employed her. However, shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall, and Kleo is freed, but the trail of lies and conspiracy exposed to her threatens her very existence, and the McGuffin, a red suitcase, leads her through the depths of Berlin. and in the Atacama Desert, with the policeman Sven on his trail.
Our opinion on the principle
I imagine the series will follow Kleo as she navigates her way through plot twists that seem to involve the KGB, in addition to being followed by a possible lover and policeman Sven. It would seem that this German production is a springboard for the popularity of Kill Evewith a dash of red sparrow, Saltand Atomic Blonde, and who knows, it might even do better. Netflix has scored some big hits with international shows, so be sure to give Cleo a look, especially if you are a fan of this genre.

What else do we know?
Well, this German production looks set to take over the female assassin world, so who else gets Kill Eve vibe here? The period setting is interesting though and there are certainly some stylistically appealing places here. It seems that in addition to being a Stasi killer, Kleo is a master of disguise, deception, and murder. The trailer shows us that there is a dark comic line that runs through the series. Kleo is arrested, but wants, like us, to know why she was denounced. The writers have previously worked together on the TV series 4 blocksand the original from Amazon in German You are wanted.
