The end of Alice in Borderland opens with portable footage of Mamoka and Asahi in the early days of this new world, and a lingering shot of Mamoka’s corpse that reminds us that there is still much to be done regarding the witch’s identity.

Example: Aguni is still rounding up people and having them executed, which Arisu interrupts. Aguni starts beating Arisu, so Usagi steps in and accuses Aguni of being the witch. He admits it, but Arisu knows he is lying. He also knows that it was Hatter he killed, not Mamoka.

Backfire. As we saw in the previous episode, Aguni and Hatter were really good friends. But the power overwhelmed Hatter and Aguni no longer recognized him. Aguni continues to beat Arisu as we dive into another flashback, of Hatter and Aguni visiting the gentlemen’s club where Hatter used to host. Aguni wants to end the beach, knowing that they are losing control of Niragi and the militants. Hatter won’t have that perceived betrayal, but he’s not as quick on the draw as Aguni.

Back here and now, Arisu confronts Aguni about wanting to kill everyone at the beach because they were the ones who drove his friend crazy. That’s why it’s a game of hearts, to ridicule everyone. He determines that Mamoka herself was the witch, which triggers Aguni. He begins to insist that he is the witch and expand on everyone, trying to take as many people with him as possible.

It is Asahi who ends the carnage by declaring that she is the dealer in the game, which results in her being killed instantly by a laser. Ana arrives just in time to reveal that the murder weapon had reverse grip fingerprints, which proves that Mamoka stabbed herself. In light of these revelations, Arisu is finally able to make sense of Aguni, but just in time the fire escalates and the badly burned Niragi arrives and begins opening fire on people. Aguni sacrifices himself to save Arisu and take down Niragi. In the aftermath, everyone grabs Mamoka’s body and rushes to the stake.

In the aftermath of the game, it’s time to understand more about what’s really going on. Arisu finds and watches the video that opened the episode, in which Asahi and Mamoka explain how they helped organize the games and how they secretly participated in them to influence things. The video shows Mamoka entering the Gamemaster’s lair, animated arrows of monitors, and delirious architects. There is not just one game master, but several.

Arisu and Usagi retrace the steps of the girls in the video. They find the lookout towers empty, devoid of light and life, completely abandoned. Game masters are all dead, well executed. Chishiya is already there with Kuina, having found his way by deciphering the subway map he found earlier. Of course, they weren’t the real masters of the game, but humans with someone else above them. As the monitors begin to come alive for an emergency broadcast, that person turns out to be Mira. She says they want to give surviving players a gift – more games, this time with the face cards too.
