Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Episode 9 Recap

Like Bu-yeon anything but confirms that his soul is Naksu, the crown prince arrives to check on the priestess. Once United Kingdom assured the royal of his condition, he turns his attention to his partner, whom he informs that he should keep his blue marks detectable while he figures out what to do with her. “I’m the only one who can get this close,” he says bluntly, making sure Bu-yeon is aware of how things are going to go. Somewhere else, Master Lee relieved Ho-gyeong with news that his mighty eldest daughter will be fine in Gwido.

In Gwido, Jang Uk finds an ice stone that “desires to absorb human energy like a soul-shifter who has gone on a rampage.” The crown prince realizes that this object must have belonged to a member of the Choi family who had a “deep resentment” towards Jin Seol-ran, hence why the specter attacked Bu-yeon when she looked for him. Following this, it is established that both the priestess Jinyowon summoned her two allies to save her and the royal is currently working alongside Jang Uk to expose (and then later get rid of) Jin Mu’s secret organization of soul shifters.

Then some flashback scenes provide needed context, such as: Jang Uk teaming up with the Crown Prince for an abandoned turtle, the monster hunter deliberately avoiding going to the Northern Fortress, Songrim accessing where Jin Mu was allowed to place his earthenware, the Gwanju plans to attack Jinyowon (they are without their plate and Bu-yeon) to claim the Firebird. Back in the present, Bu-yeon believes that the true soul of Priestess Jinyowon must have intervened, using her divine powers to allow the Crown Prince and Jang Uk to enter Gwido.

As Master Lee floats around the idea that Ho-gyeong’s eldest daughter is Jin Seol-ran because she was saved by the ice stone made for the late priestess, he also wonders if Naksu went to Gwido to disappear upon recovering his body’s divine powers. . Meanwhile, the crown prince has a heart-to-heart with Bu-yeon, about his relationship with Jang Uk and his past romantic desire for the shadow assassin the monster hunter had by his side. “That’s why every time I think of her (Naksu), I feel ashamed of myself and feel painful remorse,” the royal adds, a statement that allows him to be told he should “let go. ” once the pain has persisted for a long time. quite.

Continuing, Seo Yul present Heo Yeom with a potion used in sorcery to aid in divination (he found it in Then I business). Jin Park alleges the queen was fed Shaman Choi concoction, while the genius mage offers that he look into the potential origins of the drug Cheonbugwan. Here, Yul discovers that the potion caused people to hear bells and “go crazy”, and receives hints that Naksu once consumed it. The bitter queen, however, is of no help, preferring instead a lecture on her beliefs in the alchemy of souls allowed to allow “eternal power”.

When Seo Yul decides he wants to reveal the truth about Naksu being victimized by Jin Mu, Park Jin reminds the genie that Uk’s burden isn’t that he has to compensate. Mu-deok’s wrongdoing, but rather the fact that he wields the power that Gwanju craves. Meanwhile, the monster hunter seems to have figured out that Bu-yeon is Naksu, and the crown prince explains to his priestess acquaintance that the entire secret organization must be “annihilated” to end Jin Mu’s greed.

Although he recognizes that the fight he will be participating in is right, Jang Uk wonders if he should stay in Gwido with Bu-yeon, knowing that she is Naksu but not wanting to confirm. With tears in her eyes, the priestess admits the couple could do it, although she admits it would be a mistake, “no matter the justification or the excuse”. Somewhere else, Dang-gu is sent to defend Jinyowon, and Seo Yul is sent to arrest those responsible for Cheonbugwan outside the secret room with Sang-ho’s help. Also, Park Jin goes to the palace to speak with the king once the “battle” begins at sunset.

In Cheonbugwan, Jin Mu tells the secret organization about his plan to recreate the sky of 200 years ago when the world was dry, an event that will leave the Ice Stone in their hands. “We will live in a world where the strong gain greater power and will continue to rule forever,” the Gwanju then decisively declares to his motivated soul shifters.

As the crown prince tells Jin Mu that he will show him the power of strength that comes from protecting things, his allies arrive. So when the royal confirms his intention to confront the Gwanju who “underestimated” him, Jang Uk enters the secret room, isolating his opponent while fighting 78 soul shapeshifters. It’s impressive, but between fights, there’s a really intriguing point about Jin Mu’s reluctance to become a monster himself, perhaps out of fear of going on a rampage.

Nevertheless, Jang Uk does not plan to kill Jin Mu, but places the Cheonbugwan leader inside Gwido using the Temptation of an Ice Stone. There, the Gwanju is greeted by Bu-yeon, who herself cynically offers her help in getting the villain to harness the power of his newly acquired item. Indeed, as previously mentioned, the Ice Stone is void, only meant to feast on Jin Mu’s energy. In the end, the Gwanju is left for dead, taunted by the person he recognizes as Naksu.

As Jang Uk crumbles, Park Jin recounts the fate of Jin Mu’s king (as well as the death of the secret organization’s soul shapeshifters), leaving Her Majesty concerned that Songrim will now challenge the throne and the unanimous Assembly. . Meanwhile, the queen becomes enraged that she will live forever in her current body, so she asks Yun-o to come up with a solution.

During her thoughts on being alone in Gwido until her soul is gone, Naksu is granted a fortuitous opportunity to break out of the prison she is trapped in when the Jinyowon Plate washes up on shore. It’s thanks to the turtle with the energy of the black turtle, who “found a way” for the priestess. In this scene, Master Lee theorizes that Jin Seol-ran protected the Ice Stone and “chosen” Jang Uk and Bu-yeon.

As Seo Yul tells a returning Naksu it was Jin Mu’s fault, she went on a rampage three years ago, trying in vain to get the assassin to absolve himself of all blame so that she can stay where she is, wishes Jang Uk. Kim maid the best for his upcoming wedding, which he cannot attend due to his imminent departure to the Northern Fortress for the king’s sake.

After Jang Uk agreed that he couldn’t be with Naksu, despite his impending death, we moved on to the Assembly unanimously. Here, Bu-yeon proves her powers and clarifies what happened with Jin Mu. Yet this only causes complications, as the priestess is then tasked with removing the ice stone from Jang Uk, even though it would kill him. Meanwhile, Yun-o enters Gwido alongside the queen, hoping to figure out how to perform alchemy of souls.

In time, Jang Uk is subtly tricked into acknowledging Naksu’s existence, which means he must now kill her. The monster hunter’s anger in this request shocks the unanimous Assembly, however, who cannot believe his abrupt insistence on ending the discussion they are having.

The ending explained

Arriving at Naksu’s house, Jang Uk is overwhelmed by his emotional words stating that she let him go and is no longer his “ruthless master”. So he kisses the assassin, allowing the two to enjoy what time they have left. Somewhere else, Yun-o and the Queen presses Jin Mu for an answer on the location of the last Soul Ejector, only to hear that it’s “inside the blood of the Choi Family Mage who created it in the first place.” Realizing that means it’s in her when it’s too late, Her Royal Highness has exhausted her energy and the Gwanju chooses to switch souls with Yun-o.

As Jang Uk lovingly embraces Naksu, perhaps for the last time, the king is greeted by Yun-o’s body, which now houses Jin Mu’s soul. Smugly, the cool-bodied Gwanju greets Her Majesty and the unanimous Assembly (to whom Cheonbugwan’s leader had promised power) before the episode ends with Jang Uk’s shocking discovery of coffins.
