Addams Family Comics Fans Make A Compelling Case For Wednesday’s Casting

Tim Burton has brought audiences some of the most memorable and beloved goth films of all time, from Edward Scissorhands at Sweeney Todd.

Indeed, his earlier efforts as Sleepy Hollow onen/a beetle juice remain iconic cult favorites and his many admirers have long spat the idea that he would be the perfect cinematic figure to take on The Addams Family.

Most viewers know the titular family from the 1991 film starring Christina Ricci, among others, and there have since been sequels and even an animated film that itself got a sequel last year.

The Addams Family started life as a comic

It’s true. The fictional family was on the page long before it hit the screen, and the characters were created by American cartoonist Charles Addams.

Readers were first introduced to them through a series of unrelated single-panel cartoons in 1938 and they would go on to feature in The New Yorker over a span of five decades.

Clearly, the American satirical family was ripe for adaptation, and a television series was born in 1964. Over the years, they have become even more entrenched in the vast sphere of popular culture.

“It’s a perfect cast”

As you know, Tim Burton directs an American comedy horror series called Wednesday, based on the famous character of the same name.

It will focus on his high school days at Nevermore Academy, and audiences were recently treated to their first look at the family.

Some fans familiar with the Addams Family comics have since defended the cast, particularly praising the casting of Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, previously portrayed by Raul Julia in 90s films. to the comics, it’s much easier to see how accurate it is:
