‘You’ Season 4 Update: Joe Goldberg Has New Love Interest

December 29, 2022

Penn Badgley returns as handsome stalker Joe Goldberg in You Season 4. Since many already knew who he’s been chasing all the time, it looks like he’ll have a different eyeball.

In the previous season, Joe was obsessed with Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle), who fled the country and escaped his vile obsession. Although Joe will certainly do his best to find her, in You Season 4 he will have a different love interest.

Fans last saw Joe in Paris looking for Marienne, although the new season will mainly be set in London. He now works as a professor in the guise of Jonathan Moore.

While he keeps finding Marienne, he has his eyes on others, a woman named Kate (Charlotte Ritchie). The promo pictures of the upcoming episode hint at a new woman in Joe’s life.

In fact, Badgley himself confirmed this theory on an episode of the Podcrushed podcast with Nava Kavelin and Sophie Ansari. The 36-year-old revealed his favorite scenes with his female counterparts, from Beck (Elizabeth Lail) to Love (Victoria Pedretti) to Marienne and now Kate.

Kavelin revealed that Kate is Joe’s new girlfriend in You Season 4, and Badgley said he can’t talk to her about his favorite scene just yet. However, he joked that what’s interesting about Kate is that there has to be something new about each character every season, for Joe’s persona, which he hopes his character wouldn’t kill off.

She brings something new to the table, both as an actress and as a character, he said.

Meanwhile, fans will watch as Joe begins a new life in London after killing his wife and faking his own death last season. He’s found his new home overseas and says in the new season’s official teaser that he’s learned a bit of sophistication in crossing the pond.

Showrunner Sera Gamble explained to Entertainment Weeklythat after four seasons, Joe must be reasonably confident, although he still has major blind spots. He’ll keep catching himself screwing up, so he’ll do his best to redeem himself in You Season 4.

What’s funny is that fans will see him try to better himself and be kind in a number of heroic ways. You Season 4 will be released on Netflix with the first part on February 9, 2023, while the second part will be released on March 9, 2023.
