YG Entertainment has broken its silence on the alleged solo comeback of BIGBANG’s Taeyang in January 2023

December 2, 2022

YG Entertainment has broken its silence on claims that BIGBANG’s Taeyang is now gearing up for his big solo comeback in January. After the idol deleted all of his posts on Instagram hinting at his long-awaited return, will it finally happen?

YG released an official statement on the rumors that Taeyang is about to make his solo comeback. Unfortunately, the company has neither confirmed nor denied the claim.

Nothing has been decided yet, the label said of the rumours, via soompi. JTBC reported that several industry insiders claimed the K-pop star is already preparing for his new album in January 2023.

If the rumors are true, this would be the 34-year-old’s first solo release in around six years. His last solo comeback was in 2017 when he released the album White Night.

The first time Taeyang fueled the comeback rumors was when he shut down his social media and even deleted all his posts in October. As expected, fans began to wonder what the move meant.

To add even more fuel to the fire, he even used the word renewal in his Instagram bio. As of this writing, his Instagram account is empty but active.

Many began to believe that this move meant a possible contract extension or an end with YG. Either his contract will be renewed soon, or new music is on the horizon.

If fans are noticing, there’s a new trend for artists to blank their social media when a new album or project is about to happen. International star Adele did so in 2021 as an innovative marketing campaign to build anticipation for her then-upcoming album 30.

Beyonce also made the same move when her album Renaissance was released earlier this year. Her social media went black for almost a week in June before she finally revealed she has a new album in the works.

As such, many are hoping that Taeyang’s social media abstinence also means he’s brewing something and it will be a new album. There is no denying that many have been waiting to hear new music from the veteran BIGBANG singer.

Taeyang finished his military service in November 2019. Since then he has only released a single single with the other three BIGBANG members.

Released in April, Still Life helped revive and maintain the group’s presence on the Korean music charts after being dominated by female groups lately. Now that there are rumors that Taeyang is planning a solo comeback, many believe he will have a big hit.
