Bridgerton Season 2 follows the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony, on his quest to find the perfect Lady Bridgerton. Since the Viscount marries out of a sense of duty to his family name, love does not figure in his list of requirements. The future Lady Bridgerton is only expected to live up to the strict norms of English high society.
When Edwina Sharma is crowned Diamond of the Season by Queen Charlotte, Anthony thinks he’s found everything he’s looking for. But as anyone who knows the Julia Quinn series or novels it’s based on knows, romance is never quite that simple. With Anthony falling in love with Edwina’s older sister Kate, the younger sister is left without a suitable groom. Or is she? In case you missed them, here are a few clues as to who Edwina Sharma might marry in Bridgerton Season 2. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Who is Edwina Sharma marrying?
One of the biggest questions at the end of Season 2 is probably what will happen to Kate’s younger sister Edwina’s wedding plans. Considering it’s the younger siblings’ search for a groom that brings the Sharmas to London in the first place, it’s clear that Edwina’s engagement is imminent. The fact that she is considered a diamond by the Queen means the young lady will have a number of suitors despite the public split from Anthony. When it becomes clear that Edwina does not want to marry Anthony, Lady Danbury agrees to host her and her mother, Lady Mary Sharma, for another season.
So season 2 ends without a confirmed groom for Edwina Sharma. However, the young girl also has the favor of the Queen, who reveals to her that her nephew, Prince Friedrich, Prince of Prussia, is single and would be a potential mate. Edwina seems to like the idea, and anyone who remembers Prince Friedrich from Season 1 (when he briefly courted Daphne) knows that he’s a gentleman in every respect. It’s almost a surprise that someone as fit as the Prince is still not engaged, and the Queen’s proposal to Edwina has hopefuls like Cressida Cowper fluttering with concern.
And so Edwina does seem to have a very suitable suitor waiting for her. Of course, it’s worth noting that the Sharmas have had a habit of thwarting the Queen’s wedding preparations for generations. Edwina and Kate’s mother, Mary Sharma, has infamously defected to India after abandoning a connection created for her by the Queen. However, the youngest Sharma seems more interested in being part of London’s high society, although in the final episodes of Season 2 she’s seen finding herself and rejecting societal pressures in favor of her own happiness.
So her engagement to Prince Friedrich still depends on how he and Edwina get along and whether she thinks he’s a suitable match. Most notably, Kate’s role in finding her younger sister’s husband is significantly reduced, allowing her to finally prioritize her own happiness and recent marriage to Anthony. In the meantime, dear readers, it remains to be seen who the diamond of the season ends up teaming up with.
