The White Lotus Season 2 Filming Locations

The second season of The White Lotus was shot entirely in Italy, where the story takes place, specifically in Sicily and Rome. Filming for the second season reportedly began in February 2022 and apparently wrapped in late September of the same year. Let’s check out the White Lotus Resort and learn all about the locations featured in the HBO series!

Sicily, Italy

Much of the key scenes for Season 2 of The White Lotus was filmed in Sicily, one of Italy’s 20 regions and the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The San Domenico Palace at Piazza S. Domenico de Guzman, 5, in the municipality of Taormina served as the White Lotus Resort & Spa in the second season of the series. It’s also a Four Seasons Hotel, similar to the one where the first part of the series was filmed.

Interestingly, the hotel only opened as the Four Seasons in July 2021, but it has a rich history dating back to the 15th century. century. At first there was a religious monastery on this site. In the late 19th century it became a hotel with the addition of a Liberty style wing. The hotel gained legendary status hosting some famous guests like Oscar Wilde, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Taylor and many others.

The film crew also used La Cambusa at Via Schisò, 3 in Giardini Naxos to shoot some scenes for season 2 as they changed the restaurant’s original sign to ‘White Lotus Resort Sicily’. A piazza and villa in the hills south of the town of Noto were also reportedly used for filming. During filming, the cast and crew were spotted filming some key scenes on yachts on the Ionian Sea, which the hotel overlooks. In addition, Palermo, the capital of Sicily, and Cefalù, a coastal town in northern Sicily, also served as key filming locations for the second season.

Rome, Italy

The production team of The White Lotus Season 2 also traveled to Rome, the capital of Italy, for filming. More specifically, they used the facilities of Lumina Studios at Via Macherio, 228/230, in Rome. The film studio houses three studios, dressing rooms, a reception, production offices, a refreshment area and an external backlot area.

All these qualities make the city a suitable location for various types of productions. Although most of the scenes for the second season were reportedly filmed in the studios in Rome, we can’t rule out that they also set up camp in various locations around the city, including some well-known landmarks like the Colosseum or the Trevi Fountain.
