Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, Only Murders in the Building is a crime comedy series about three strangers who live in the same apartment building, the Arconia. What brings these neighbors together is their shared interest in a true crime podcast and a mysterious death at home. Suspecting it’s murder, the trio start their own podcast while using their knowledge of true crimes to get to the bottom of the truth.
As they investigate the case themselves, they come to the realization that the killer may be living among them while trying to decipher the clues before time runs out. In Season 2, the trio of Charles, Oliver and Mabel set out on a quest to find the killer of Bunny Fogler, Arconia’s CEO. However, when the three become suspects in the eyes of the public, a competing podcast begins covering the trio and the case. While the comedic element interspersed with the mysterious story works well to keep viewers engaged, the interesting locations, including the Arconia, intrigue. Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Filming Locations
Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building was filmed entirely in upstate New York, specifically New York City. Filming for the second season of the mystery comedy series began in early December 2021 and ended in late March 2022. The production team used some of the filming locations from the first season, which apparently made filming smoother. Now, with the trio, we want to unravel the mystery by touring the locations of the series!
New York City, New York
For the filming of Only Murders in the Building Season 2, the cast and crew once again set up camp in New York City, the most populous city in the United States. As in Season 1, the Belnord represented the fictional Arconia in Season 2, where most of the action takes place. It is an apartment building at 225 West 86th Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Several exterior shots were filmed in the same area, on West 91st Street. The production crew was also spotted filming some scenes at one of the restaurants in town.
Some key scenes for the second round were filmed at the Long Island City Courthouse. It is located at 25-10 Court Square in Long Island City in the Borough of Queens and formerly housed the Criminal Court, District Attorney’s Office, District Court and District Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, Coney Island served as a prominent filming location for the second season of Only Murders in the Building. Coney Island is a peninsula and entertainment district in the southwestern part of the borough of Brooklyn.
New York City is home to several significant landmarks, including some neighborhoods and monuments. While Times Square is considered one of the busiest pedestrian zones in the world, the Empire State Building has become the global reference for describing the length and height of other structures around the globe. Additionally, NYC is a major production hub for the film industry and has been the setting for numerous films and television shows over the years. Some of the notable movies are The Godfather, Midsommar, Suits and Succession.
