R&B singer Toni Michele Braxton was born on October 7, 1967 in the United States. With over 70 million records sold worldwide, she is one of the best-selling artists in history. Among countless other accolades, Braxton has won seven Grammy Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, seven American Music Awards and many more. On October 7, 1967 Tony Michelle Braxton born in Severn, Maryland. She comes from a musical and religious household. Her parents, Michael and Evelyn, served as pastors, respectively, at the neighboring Methodist Church. Braxton’s father was also an employee of an energy company. Her mother worked as a beautician and performed in the opera. Her maternal grandfather, Toni, was also a pastor.

With an older brother (Michael, 1968) and four younger sisters, she is the eldest of six children (Traci 1971, Towanda 1973, Trina 1974 and Tamar 1977). Her church choir was the setting for Braxton’s first singing performance. She chose to study at Bowie State University in Maryland because she wanted to be a teacher. But after she started talking to herself while filling up the gas station, composer and producer William Pettaway Jr. persuaded her to try her hand at singing.

I clearly remember having to tell my kids about my lupus. According to Braxton, that was a challenge. The last thing Braxton remembered before she cried was Mommy’s ok.

In lupus, an autoimmune disease that attacks the heart, joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, and lungs, among others, the immune system attacks healthy cell tissue. 90% of people diagnosed with this chronic condition, which affects 1.5 million Americans, are women.
