Who gets Marilyn Monroe’s legacy when she dies?
Marilyn Monroe is still considered one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the 1950s and 1960s. One of the first sex icons to garner millions of followers, she remains a mysterious figure whose life, death and legacy continues to capture the curiosity of people around the world.
Family history of mental illness in Marilyn’s line
Marilyn’s mother, Gladys Baker, suffered from schizophrenia. Marilyn’s mother had a difficult upbringing as she spent most of her time in and out of psychiatric hospitals. Baker spent the years 1935-1945 in a mental institution.
It’s understandable that Marilyn was looking for her love elsewhere. Glady was just as confused as she waited for her mother to come home and give her the affection she needed. Her mother was in a difficult position and despite her behavior she should be treated with respect. To date, schizophrenia is the most socially stigmatized of all mental disorders. Unfortunately, access to treatment is still limited. Rather than blaming her for leaving Marilyn behind, perhaps we should consider the company that has ensnared them both. It would have been helpful if Gladys Baker had forewarned Marilyn what was to come.

Marilyn’s psychiatric history, from the beginning
Limited Collector’s Edition 2017 In Marilyn – Her Untold Story, close relatives tell how Marilyn suffered from paranoia and delusions as a child, such as when she believed her dog had died.
Marilyn had a hard time making friends at school, but she developed a strong bond with her dog, Tippy. Tippy was hit by a car one day while Marilyn was at school. A neighbor picked up his body and placed it in Marilyn’s driveway. Marilyn refused to believe Tippy had been hit by a car despite the evidence being overwhelming. She insisted the neighbors had split Tippy in half with a garden hoe because they were annoyed by the dog’s barking. No one could dissuade her from her opinion. This experience scared Marilyn of her foster parents, Ida and Wayne Bolender. Mental illness can manifest itself as early as childhood.
Despite the challenges she endured as a foster child, Marilyn persevered in pursuing her goal of acting. Despite her meteoric rise to fame, the rising celebrity displayed symptoms of mental illness.

How much money does Marilyn Monroe have right now?
How much does Marilyn Monroe have in the bank? According to Celebrity Net Of, Monroe left an estate worth about $800,000 at her death, which equates to about $7.8 million after accounting for inflation in 2022. Her total film earnings throughout her career was only about $3 million ($24 million in today’s currency). She’s made it to fame in the world, but that’s not an identity to live with, Joyce Carol Oates, author of Blonde, on which the Netflix film starring Ana de Armas as Monroe is based, told Variety.
It’s the kind of woman who has made a lot of money for many men, but not much for herself. She was only 36 when she died, and she left insufficient wealth to pay for a proper funeral. Numerous reports state that she frivolously spent her fortune on things like clothing, jewelry, and gifts for friends and co-workers.
Unfortunately, Monroe’s life was short as she died by apparent suicide in 1962. After paying off various settlement costs and probate obligations, her will left her in Los Angeles County with just $370,000 (about $3.5 million today). The Brentwood, Los Angeles mansion that Monroe bought in her final months was her most prized possession. According to Celebrity Net Worth, she borrowed money from her ex-husband Joe DiMaggio to pay the down payment when she bought her first and only home for $77,500 in January 1962. In 2017, the spacious property fetched $7.25 million.
