Netflix hasn’t greenlit season 4 of The Umbrella Academy yet, but expectations are already high for a new season. In fact, creator and showrunner Steve Blackman already has several ideas for the next season, which could also be the end of the series.
Blackman has reportedly proposed a season 4 of The Umbrella Academy to Netflix, but it hasn’t been approved yet. But since the series has become the most-watched series on the streaming giant, it’s pretty much impossible that it won’t be renewed.
However, he said opposite TheWrapthat season four was heading towards a finale. “I think at a certain point I’m not sure where we’re going after Season 4,” he explained.
However, Blackman stressed the need to be cautious, although he already has a plan for next year on how CNet reported.
He will continue to tread the same ground they trod before. While he acknowledged that finding a new way to reverse the current storyline would be challenging, they already have an idea of how to do it.
But Blackman believed that if they got the chance to do The Umbrella Academy season 4 it would be a great ending for the series.
He stressed that this doesn’t mean he can’t do more, but it would be very satisfying for viewers. So what would happen in the new season?
Robert Sheehan, who plays the role of Klaus, aka Number Four, has hinted at his character’s arc for the possible new season. Season three began with the Hargreeves children finding themselves in an alternate timeline where their father Reginald (Colm Feore) had decided to adopt children with superhero abilities, later known as The Sparrow Academy.
In the final twist, the surviving members of Umbrella Academy and Sparrow Academy found themselves in a different new timeline where their powers could not function. Given this turn of events, Sheehan believed that Klaus could return to his old, self-destructive self in The Umbrella Academy Season 4 to deal with the loss of his powers.
He told TheWrap that it could be certain that Klaus will return to his very destructive brand of self-destructive thinking by the start of the new season. He might give up after doing all that hard work for nothing, and that narrative might re-establish itself in his head.
So his character might find a way to love himself even though he’s lost his power. I think that will be the next challenge for Klaus, he said.
It is not yet known when The Umbrella Academy season 4 will be released.
