The Outlaws Season 2: Renewed or Cancelled?

April 1, 2022

Created by Stephen Merchant and Elgin James, The Outlaws is a high-profile black crime comedy series of cat-and-mouse chases through graffiti-smeared streets. The series follows a group of seven petty criminals from different walks of life. However, at the crossroads of the community’s revenge, they come together, and misadventures follow. When they get their hands on a sizable sum of money, everything goes wrong. Upon release, the BBC and Amazon Studios original series made headlines for a variety of reasons, from the on-camera whitewashing of a Banksy mural to its glorious portrayal of Bristol. After the finale, which aims to keep the comedy alive, you might long for another season. If you want to know where to find her, we can help you.

The Outlaws Season 2 Release Date

The first season of The Outlaws aired in full on March 18, 2022 Amazon Prime Video released. The first season premiered in the UK on October 18, 2021 and the season finale aired on November 22, 2021. Now let’s talk about the development of an upcoming second season.

In January 2021, the original broadcasters renewed the series for a second season before the first season even went into production. The two seasons were filmed back-to-back while the cast and crew were largely confined to the studio due to the pandemic. With the star power of Christopher Walken and a charming ambience reminiscent of classic sitcoms, the series has delighted fans and critics alike. While the second season is still in development, we assume there will be a third. There is no official release date for season 2 just yet, but The Outlaws season 2 could premiere sometime in late 2022.

The Outlaws Season 2 Cast: Who is in it?

The main characters are still alive and present in the story after the end of the first season. So it’s possible that all of them will resume their roles. Rhianne Barreto (Rani Rekowski), Darren Boyd (John Halloran), Gamba Cole (Christian Taylor Hochstapler/Ben), Clare Perkins (Myrna Okeke) and Eleanor Tomlinson (Lady Gabriella Penrose-Howe) may be returning as main characters. Jessica Gunning (Diane Pemberley), Stephen Merchant (Gregory Dillard) and of course Christopher Walken (Frank Sheldon) will also be seen in their respective robes.

We also meet Charles Babalola (Malaki), Nina Wadia (Shanthi Rekowski, Rani’s mother), Gyuri Sarossy (Jerzy Rekowski, Rani’s father), James Nelson-Joyce (Spider), Aiyana Goodfellow (Esme, Ben’s sister) and Grace Calder (DS Lucy Haines). Season two reprises their roles as Jake Swift as Cool Boy, Julia Davis as Rita, and Elizabeth Dulau as Lesley. More cast members could be added in Season 2, but we’re awaiting further official announcements.

The Outlaws Season 2 Plot: What is it about?

While the creators opted for a decidedly comedic tone, the end of the first season isn’t quite as pompous and glorious. At the beginning of the first season, Ben (imposing as Christian) loots a fat dough from the house of rival gang leader The Dean. At the end of the story, the Brookhill crew from Ben’s home territory turns out to be providing protection to The Dean. As Malaki later explained, money was tight and he was not getting his fair share of the deals in his area.

Esme shoots Spider, and Ben takes her to an Airbnb to beat the heat. However, the gang catches up with Ben in time, and they confess the shooting incident to Detective Lucy Haines. Ben takes all the accusations upon himself and is ready to go to jail, but Spider survives the gunshot wound. Thanks to Diane, the community overseer’s clever plan, Ben and the others get 100 more hours of community service. In the final moments, Frank continues to paint over a Banksy mural.

Things could get out of hand again in the following season. In the first six episodes, the characters have become more complex. While the first season’s ending does the characters a disservice by not pulling them out of their respective corners, it keeps the fans engaged. The second season will possibly put an end to Ben and Rani’s relationship as they may become closer. Rani may also return to her Oxford studies, God willing, while Esme will finally understand the consequences of her actions.

Esme could retake the exam she skipped the first time. Maybe she and Ben will even find their way back to their sick mother. Myrna is reinstated into her group by a vote at the end of season one. However, another robbery of a police vehicle could cause her problems. We’ll also see if Gabby organizes her music festival and if she hooks up with sad nerd Greg. Finally, at the end of season one, Frank agrees to stay at home, but the devious old-timer might have another change of heart in the upcoming season.
