The absences of Prince William and Kate Middleton clear the way for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to visit Queen Elizabeth, a military historian has revealed

Prince William and Kate Middleton were reportedly skiing over the Easter holidays when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Queen Elizabeth II in the UK on Maundy Thursday. The Cambridges’ absence has finally allowed the Sussexes to reconcile with the royal family, a royal expert has revealed.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a surprise visit to Queen Elizabeth before heading to The Hague for the Invictus Games. Prince William and Kate Middleton weren’t there, however, and military historian Christopher Joll saw it as the perfect time for a visit from the controversial royal couple.

Speaking to LBC (via express) revealed to Joll that the Invictus Games also played an important role in giving the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a chance to reconcile with the royal family. He even said there were no surprises in the events.

In fact, it only paved the way for the pair’s return to the UK for the platinum anniversary celebrations. Joll added that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind sharing the balcony with them.

I don’t think that’s the big problem, he told presenter Camilla Tominey when asked. He firmly believes that this is a personal matter within the royal family that they must work out among themselves.

If there’s a bigger problem than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s alleged row with the royal family, it’s their resignation as full-time members, which has put themselves in a very awkward position. Now, Joll added, they’ve become commercial celebrities doing things that make them money, like multimillion-dollar deals with Netflix and others.

First of all, it was the first time the former actress and military veteran visited her grandmother two years after the infamous Megxit. It happened just days before Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 96th birthday.

Page Six revealed they met Her Majesty at her home at Windsor Castle, along with Prince Charles. TMZ first reported that Prince Harry and Meghan flew to London’s Heathrow Airport from their home in California.

They left their two children, Archie, 2, and Lilibet, 10 months old, at home. Queen Elizabeth has yet to meet Lilibet while it has been two years since he last saw Archie.

They were reportedly staying at her home, Frogmore Cottage, where Princess Eugenie currently resides with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their son August. A spokesman said Prince Harry had visited Queen Elizabeth as he had hoped.
