Song Joong-ki has a lot to do, but he mourns his grandmother. Various media outlets claimed that Song Hye-kyo’s ex-husband lost his grandmother on Sunday November 28th.
Reports of Soong Jong-ki’s grandmother’s death surfaced only now, the same day the funeral took place earlier this morning. According to AllKpop, only close family members were present at the event.
His grandmother is said to have called him pretty, which he always strictly refused to do. In an online fan meeting (via Pinkvilla), the actor revealed that his parents had always wanted a daughter, which is why they usually tied his hair in bangs.
They always called him handsome, which made him very angry. In fact, he usually got mad at anyone who called him that.
Despite his grief, the 36-year-old star is reportedly preparing for his next big role on JTBC’s new series, The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family. In a post on Instagram, he even revealed that he already has the script for the series.
As expected, fans couldn’t suppress their excitement, knowing that they would see Song Joong-ki on the small screen again. This time around, he’d be working with Hospital Playlist star Shin Hyun-been.
In addition to Hyun-been, Park Ji-hyun will also join the cast as Mo Hyun-min. This woman has the best of everything and is even going to marry Yoon Hyun-woo (Song Joong-ki).
The actress’ agency, Namoo Actors, confirmed the news and revealed that she is about to start filming. The Youngest Son of the Chaebol Family is written by Kim Tae-hee, who is also behind the success of Designated Survivor: 60 Days, Beautiful Mind and Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
Jung Dae Yoon will also direct the series after working on She Was Pretty and W: Two Wordls. The new series is slated to air on JTBC in 2022.
Meanwhile, Song Joong-ki has been on the rise lately. He recently won the Popular Star Award at the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards, along with Goo Kya-hwan, YoonA of Girls Generation and Jeon Yeon-been.
As if that wasn’t enough, he also received the Best Actor Award at the 2021 Chunsa Film Art Awards, also known as the 26th Chunsa International Film Festival, for his role as Kim Tae-ho in the film Space Sweepers. Song Joong-ki’s agency and management, History D&C, was so proud of his award that they shared a number of photos of him with his award online.
