Shinobi no Ittoki Season 2: what to expect

December 21, 2022

Produced by DMM Pictures, Shinobi no Ittoki is an original action series animated by Troyca. The anime is about Ittoki Sakuraba, an innocent teenager who doesn’t know that he is the 19th heir of the Iga, a noble clan of ninjas. After years of keeping his true identity a secret, the titular protagonist finally learns the truth about his origins when the rival clan, the Koga, tries to assassinate him in revenge for the death of their leader. Eventually, to become the chief of the Iga and a true leader of his people, Ittoki must join the Kokuten Ninja Academy to hone his skills.

Though he tries his best to accept his new reality so he can finally help his mother, it soon becomes clear that the dirty politics between Koga and Iga has reached a point where negotiations are no longer enough to restore peace. Following its release in the 2022 fall anime season, the action-packed anime has amassed a sizeable fan base worldwide. After the season 1 finale premiered, these fans are sure to be curious about the future of the series. If you are also looking for similar information, then we have it for you.

Shinobi no Ittoki Season 2 Release Date

‘Shinobi no Ittoki’ Season 1 was released on October 4th, 2022 and ended a few weeks later on December 20th, 2022. The series consists of twelve episodes with a running time of approximately twenty-three minutes each. Directed by Shuu Watanabe, the action anime was cast with talented voice actors such as Ryouta Oosaka (Ittoki), Haruka Shiraishi (Kousetsu), Konishi Katsuyuki (Tokisada), Kikuko Inoue (Yumika) and many others.

As for ‘Shinobi no Ittoki’ Season 2, so far we know everything. The series has not been renewed for another season by either Studio TROYCA, DMM Pictures, or any other company involved in the production and distribution of the series. Since Shinobi no Ittoki is an original anime series, there is no source material to inspire the series. In such cases, international reviews and financial success decide the future of the series.

Unfortunately, the action series didn’t even make it onto the anime list for fall 2022. She has a below average rating on MyAnimeList and her reviews on most online platforms are either negative or mixed. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the series is ranked so low, not even by the competition from other popular anime of the same season such as Chainsaw Man, Blue Lock, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Mob Psycho 100 III and Spy x Family part 2

The season 1 finale ended quite coherently with all characters finding closure and the Koga village becoming friendlier towards other clans. In the final minutes of the series, viewers are briefly introduced to a ninja-free world that has been cooperating with one another for several years. There’s no hint of motivation for another season, and interestingly, the last few seconds of the final episode ended with The End message.

Considering the above factors, it seems highly unlikely that Shinobi no Ittoki Season 2 will ever be produced. However, as mentioned, the creators have not officially canceled the series or made any public statements about its future. In the unlikely event that the anime is renewed, Shinobi no Ittoki season 2 will be released no earlier than early 2026 or maybe even later.

Shinobi no Ittoki Season 2 Plot: What can it be about?

Season 1 of the series draws to a close after Kidou Minobe was killed by Tokisada, after which he was declared a fugitive by the NPC and hunted down relentlessly. But even several years later, no one is able to track him down. Meanwhile, Suzaku becomes the new leader of the Koga and forges friendly relations with all other clans, resulting in a peaceful world after decades of conflict.

In Season 2, the anime may finally reveal where Tokisada has been all these years after killing Kidou Minobe. In the meantime, expect the peace in the ninja world to be shattered and Ittoki will be forced to take on the responsibility of protecting the Iga clan. Suzaku has done a lot to transform Koga Village, but it’s possible that some people don’t agree with his policies and are planning an uprising against the current regime.
