Rick and Morty Season 6 Episode 5 Post Credits: What is Morty watching?

The fifth episode of Rick and Morty Season 6 is titled Final DeSmithation and is a nod to the Final Destination franchise. The film series is about characters trying to avoid a horrible death. Also in this episode, Rick helps Jerry avoid a grim fate predicted by a fortune cookie. The duo find out that the cookies came from a space worm’s poop. Ric and Jerry track down the boss of the Fortune 500 company that makes fortune cookies. Rick defeats Buchou and expels her and the space worm through a black hole. In the end, Rick saves Jerry from having sex with his mother.

Most of the episode revolves around Rick and Jerry’s adventure and the rest of the Smith family is missing. At the beginning of the episode we see Beth, Summer and Morty leaving the house to spend a day at the zoo. In the episode’s post-credits scene, viewers are reunited with the Smith family. The scene features Morty, Summer, Beth, and Space Beth in the zoo’s gift shop. In the store, Morty watches a TV commercial. The commercial shows a public alert from the zoo warning visitors not to eat the animal food intended for zebras. However, people continue to eat the animal feed and get sick. Morty is confused by the commercial, which ends with people killing each other for the pet food.

The post-credits scene offers viewers a hilarious throwback to the beginning of the episode, with Jerry expressing his admiration for the zebra food at the zoo. The twisted and somber commercial stays within the context of the episode’s theme as Morty tries to fathom its meaning. Ultimately, Morty comes to the conclusion that the zoo in the advertisement is a human zoo and the animals are the ones who feed the humans. The commercial itself feels like an episode of The Twilight Zone as it starts out like a live feed from the zoo and quickly escalates to a bloody crime scene.

Finally, the weird and somber commercial in the episode’s post-credits scene offers a hilarious twist on the concept of zoos. He bends the sci-fi trophy of human abuse of animals and puts an exciting twist on the concept of the human zoo. She also explains Jerry’s strange obsession with zebra food, giving viewers a glimpse of the absurdity the Smith family faces on a daily basis. Neither Summer, Beth, or Space Beth are bothered by the fact that they are in a human zoo, and Morty mumbles to himself as he ponders the implications of the commercial. However, the post-credits scene adds little to the story of the episode and is just an extra funny moment.
