Psy finally releases the long awaited music video for his song Celeb starring Suzy Bae. Three years after he first glimpsed it, the Gangnam Style hitmaker brings color and life to the song.
The highly anticipated music video for Celeb was released on Tuesday, May 3 at 6pm KST. Said song is part of his new album PSY 9th.
soompi noted that the song was only released last week when his new album came out on April 29, but he gave the first glimpse of the music video three years ago. He gave fans a sneak peek at one of his Summer Swag concerts in 2019.
However, since Psy postponed his comeback, which was supposed to take place in July 2019, it took three years before the song and the official music video finally got out to the public.
Additionally, ahead of the music video’s official release, Psy gave little teasers of what fans got to see by sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the production. He also featured undercuts with Suzy Bae herself.
AllKpop reports that the Ashfall star’s incredible beauty was radiant in the behind-the-scenes clip. She then performed a rousing dance routine with Psy, building anticipation for the release of the new music video.
Her performance also led to speculation that she would be the next psy girl, along with fellow K-pop idols HyunA, Ga In, and Na Eun. Psy also gave an insight into part of the song’s melody and its choreography.
Meanwhile, Block B’s Zico, Yoo Gun Yung and Psy co-composed the music for Celeb. Alternatively, the lyrics were written by Zico and Psy.
The song is part of Psy’s long-awaited comeback after five years. His ninth album, PSY 9th, was officially released on April 29th at 6pm KST on various online music sites.
First of all, Psy is not just a singer. He is also a rapper, songwriter and record producer.
He is known for his humorous videos and stage performances, and for his international hits Gangnam Style and Gentleman. The song’s chorus was even included in the Yale Book of Quotations as one of the most famous quotes of 2012, according to Pinkvilla.
Currently, PSY 9th’s theme song, That That, produced by BTS’ Suga, which also features on the song, has been dominating the iTunes charts worldwide since it was released last week.
