Prince William may not be a fan of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new Netflix docu-series Harry & Meghan, but he has no plans to involve the Sussexes’ children, Archie and Lilibet, in their argument. The Prince of Wales and his wife Kate Middleton will reportedly send Christmas presents to the prince’s only niece and nephew, although they want to clarify that it is not an olive branch.
Prince William reportedly didn’t like the fact that Prince William and Meghan Markle showed clips of their mother, Princess Diana’s controversial Panorama interview in Harry & Meghan. But with Christmas just around the corner, he and Kate Middleton still want to give gifts to Archie and Lilibet, even though the Sussexes might not get anything.
Royal expert Roya Nikkhah wrote in the Sunday Times via express, saying the gifts are just for the little ones, suggesting the Wales have no plans to make peace with the controversial couple just yet. It’s just that the working elderly royals don’t want to deprive the kids of having Christmas presents from them under the tree.
And while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appear to have turned their backs on many royal traditions, they appear to be maintaining family gift-giving practices and will be sending gifts to Cambridge children George, Charlotte and Louis. No gifts are exchanged between the adults, she stressed.
Nikkhah added that Prince William still loves his nephew and niece despite not having been able to meet them in person for the past year and a half. Marie Claire also noted that they have no plans to travel to the UK to attend the royal family’s Christmas party at Sandringham, likely due to rising tensions created by the recently canceled docuseries and forthcoming memoir Spare.
Despite the controversy and tensions, Prince Harry is reportedly very happy with the Harry & Meghan outcome and expects it will pave the way for a royal reconciliation. He hopes the show will give the public and royal family a greater understanding of the suffering and hardships they’ve been through.
An unnamed insider who is said to be a close friend of Princess Diana told the Mirror that the 38-year-old is happy with the documentary’s narration and that he and Meghan Markle came on. They reportedly did it to share the truth about her life and tell the story he wanted to share with the world.
[Er] absolutely no regrets, the insider continued. The couple even hope members of the royal family and court will see the film and hear their comments, despite knowing the opposite camp will never publicly address the film.
In any case, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wish the film would give King Charles III, Prince William and Kate Middleton a better understanding of their feelings and experiences in England and prove that they still dream of reconciliation. The tipster went on to say that the so-called royal bad boy still loves his father and brother no matter what.
