Prince Harry, Meghan Markle: What’s in store for the Sussexes after the release of Harry & Meghan and Spare?

January 11, 2023

Following the release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s controversial Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan and the explosive memoir Spare, the big question is: what’s next for the Sussexes? The couple’s popularity in the UK is reportedly falling to an all-time low, while the US is said to be losing sympathy for them.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made millions from their contracts with Penguin Random House and Netflix. But what will they do after the release of their controversial projects?

Page Six reports that even America isn’t sure what to think of the royal couple. Global branding and public relations expert Mark Borkowski told the publication that the two are on the brink and have lost liking.

Even famous and influential figures reacted to the Duke of Sussex’s revelations: The New York Times ran an article questioning whether his book had changed the public’s opinion of him. Ronald Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis, wrote in a Times article that she urged him to think twice before publishing his disclosure story.

Former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager also said on NBC’s Hoda and Jenna that she couldn’t imagine writing against her twin sister Barbara the way Prince Harry did about his brother Prince William. None of her celebrity friends are also promoting his book or documentary.

Will they drop any more revelations with these comments? Prince Harry had four major interviews to promote his book.

It’s also been claimed that his memoir is a two-parter, although that idea has reportedly been scrapped. They will also have a book on leadership and philanthropy, while Meghan Markle could write her own memoir.

In addition, Netflix has signed a three-year deal with Spotify, although it remains to be seen whether the Duchess of Sussex’s Archetypes with Meghan show will be renewed. It’s also not known if Netflix will renew her contract.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly in talks with various branding deals, although nothing is official just yet. The former actress is reportedly thinking about relaunching her Instagram and lifestyle blog, The Tig.

Meanwhile, senior Conservative MPs are calling for Prince Harry to be impeached after dishonoring the royal family. Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely wants to pass legislation that could downgrade the prince’s ducal title, just as German royals were stripped of their titles in World War I.

Members of the Privy Council may lose their titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex under the legislation, with Seely pointing to the apparent hypocrisy that they are happy to use their royal names while criticizing the institution. Therefore, he added, Prince Harry should set a good example and instead call himself Mr Windsor and voluntarily relinquish his title.
