The new film from the One Piece franchise, One Piece Film Red, is slated to hit Japanese theaters on August 6, 2022, directed by director Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch).
As the director behind the One Piece Film Red project, Taniguchi shared his comments.
Of course, if an old friend invites you to play, you would answer: Come on, right? This is the picture that presented itself to me when I decided to get involved in this project after all this time.
– I want to answer this question in my own way and remind myself what ONE PIECE means to me. This project will be different from the weekly aired series, so we wanted to create a ONE PIECE that had never been seen before. But that doesn’t mean we’ll ignore previous TV and movie series. –
-The anime ONE PIECE has such a long history behind it. On this basis, and with the help of the screenwriter, Mr. Kuroiwa, and the rest of the team, we hope to discover new opportunities.
- Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch) directed the project.
- Eiichiro Oda is executive producer.
- Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film Gold, One Piece: Heart of Gold, GANTZ: O, Live-Action Black Butler) as a writer and screenwriter
