One Piece’s live action has been on everyone’s lips in the anime community for a while now. A few months ago it was announced that Netflix Eiichiro will adapt Oda’s One Piece as live action, and the cast of Strawhats was announced this week.
Previously, the number of episodes and their titles were announced by Netflix. Now that the line-up has been determined, production can begin. We don’t know how long it will take or what the budget is, but it seems that One Piece is going to be huge. Let’s find out the One Piece live-action cast, release date, and more.
One Piece live action performer
The main One Piece live-action cast has been announced, and these are the actors and actresses who will play the role of the straw hats.
- Inaki Godoy – Monkey D. Luffy
- Mackenyu – Roronoa Zoro
- Emily Rudd – Nami
- Jacob Romero – Usopp
- Taz Skyler – Sanji
Although almost all of the actors are not very well known in Hollywood, Oda made the final decision. It can therefore be assumed that they have his consent. Rumors circulated earlier this week that Chris Pratt would be playing the role of Chopper, but we haven’t heard any news about it yet.
As far as the initial reactions from the fans are concerned, they were rather mixed. While some are very enthusiastic about the cast, others have voiced criticism. Especially with the characters of Zoro and Sanji, many believe that they should have been swapped.
Apart from that, the actors who were chosen to play the roles of Luffy, Usopp and Nami received praise. Especially Emily Rudd as Nami seems to be very popular with the fan base. However, given the horrific experience Netflix has had with the anime adaptation, one is very excited to see how they will fare. Only time will tell us whether or not this million dollar project will succeed.
One Piece Live Action Spoilers
The number of episodes that the first season will contain has already been announced. Here are the 10 episodes that One Piece’s live-action will feature for the first season.
- Romance Dawn
- TBA (related to Zoro)
- Captain of 8000 men
- Cooks of the sea
- A frog into the well
- Arms and Sharks
- Tangerine Grove
- The end and the beginning
- Grand Line
From the looks of it, it seems like season 1 will cover the east blue saga of One Piece. She will show the backstories of the first five straw hats that will become part of Luffy’s pirate crew. It will be interesting to see how they condense the saga into 10 episodes.
We’ll probably start with the very first chapter of One Piece, which features Luffy in his childhood where he meets with Shanks and eats a devil fruit. After that, we’ll meet Zoro, whom Luffy is chasing to become part of the crew.
While sailing in the East Blue, you will meet Nami, Usopp and Sanji. The Arlong Park Arc will likely have 3 episodes dedicated to it, which makes sense since it was one of the first groundbreaking arcs in One Piece.
The final episode is named Grand Line, which means the season ends with the crew exiting the inverted mountain and entering the Grand Line for the first time. But that’s just the beginning. The real adventure is waiting for you.
One Piece Live Action release date
We now know the series is in production. Given the amount of money that is being put into the series, we can expect things to be moving fast, but it is still difficult to pinpoint the series release date. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement.
