On My Block Season 4 release date and everything we know

July 27, 2021

On My Block ”is a teen comedy drama series about life in a tough Los Angeles neighborhood. Creators Lauren Iungerich, Eddie González and Jeremy Haft weave an enchanting, tense but very funny story, populated by endearing characters from underrepresented communities. The series narrates the coming of age of César, Jamal, Monsé and Ruby, lifelong friends, in the hostile neighborhood.

Since its premiere in 2018, the critically acclaimed Netflix original series has spawned three successful seasons. After the time jump and final suspense of season three, fans should rejoice in season four, you will be glad to know that it is knocking on the door. If you are looking for details on the upcoming season, please let us know.

On My Block Season 4 Release Date

Season 3 of ‘On My Block’ premiered on March 11, 2020, in its entirety, on Netflix. The season contains eight episodes, the episodic duration of which varies between 23 and 36 minutes. Now let’s dive into the premiere information for season four.

After the premiere of the third season, fans had to wait almost a year to receive news about the renewal of the series for a new season. Patience paid off on January 29, 2021, when Netflix officially announced the continuation of the series to a fourth and final season. As heartbreaking as it may be, the friends will reunite for another round of mistakes and setbacks before going their separate ways. After arduous days of filming, production on the season concluded in June 2021. Series co-actress Paula Garcés shared a photo from the closing party celebrating the conclusion of production.

While previous seasons have kept a consistent premiere schedule by eliminating the episode pool in March, the season four premiere has been quite delayed. However, if post-production ends at the end of August, we can safely say that “On My Block” season 4 will air in the fall of 2021.

The cast of season 4 of “On My Block”: Who is part of it?

Since all of the main cast members are still alive at the end of season three, they will be returning to the streets for a fourth season. Among the regular members of the cast we will see Sierra Capri (Monsé Finnie), Jason Genao (Ruby Martinez), Brett Gray (Jamal Turner), Diego Tinoco (Cesar Diaz), Julio Macias (Spooky, Cesar’s brother) and Jessica Marie Garcia ( Ruby’s love interest Jasmine) reprise their roles. Paula Garcés will reprise the role of Geny, Ruby’s mother, while Peggy Blow will be promoted to regular as Marisol, Ruby’s grandmother.

Ian Casselberry will, in all likelihood, reappear as Ray, Spooky and Cesar’s father, and we believe he will have an important role to play in the development of the story. On the other hand, Ada Luz Pla will not return as her character, the leader of the Cuchillos gang, appears to be dead at the end of the season. However, if Knives isn’t really dead and faked everything, we might see the actor return in the final season. Hopefully someone will take on the role of Li’l Rickey, but the production team isn’t showing their cards.

On My Block season 4 plot: what is it?

The third season begins with the reveal of the kidnapper of the children, who turns out to be the leader of the Saints, Knives. According to his orders, the children try to find Li’l Rickey. Eventually, the boys fail in their pursuit and plan to kill the gang leader in his place. Meanwhile, Ruby develops feelings for Jasmine, and Spooky and Cesar’s father reappear, and a new gang called “The Nineteen” is fighting over territory. Monsé’s mother also breathes the last gasp of the season. Spooky approaches the Nineteen, but the plan fails.

Spooky is trapped and the rest of his friends must find a way out of this dire situation. They go to a secret location in hopes of finding Spooky’s body, but instead find the body of Knives, who has apparently been attacked by the other gang. They burn the body, which leads us to another shocking revelation. The Knives murder is part of the deal between Spooky and the Nineteen, and it ultimately works out in Spooky’s favor. However, Monsé wants nothing to do with this. Monsé also goes to boarding school. Two years later, the friends have parted ways and Caesar is Santos’s new boss.

Who would have believed it? The ending leaves the story in a tense moment, and the jump in time makes it even more interesting. The latest season seems to be heading into darker territory, while also describing the final years of studying the friends. The season will go back in time to tell us about Caesar’s ascension journey, in all likelihood. We will also see at the end of the third season that Spooky has left the violent gang life, which gives us hope. On the other hand, it will be interesting to see why Caesar embraces a life that he once vehemently denounced.

The moments between Spooky and his father are one of the most endearing scenes in season three, and the story will unfold further in that direction. Monsé and Jamal will also have their moments, because the story goes back to the moment of the break in the group of friends. By the way, we could also find out who Li’l Rickey is. Is it in Bakersfield or Portland? One can only guess. So while the story seems to end in a contradictory but cohesive way at the end of Season 3, it continues to unfold as several glaring questions remain.
