With Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 1 ending, all eyes are now on Disney+ and Lucasfilm. With the season finale ending on a good note, will there be an Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2? Here are the ways to do it.
There are indications that the Star Wars series is not intended to continue for so long. However, since fans have heard about other shows rumored to be limited, like Big Little Lies, it looks like the future for Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 is bright.
The series’ EP/director, Deborah Chow, narrated Entertainment Tonightthat they conceived the series as a limited series. It was a big story with a beginning, a middle and an end, and they didn’t think about what would happen after that.
It just meant that Chow was open to the idea of a second season and later admitted the series could go on. It would only be if there was a real reason for another season, she said.
So what could this be? Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kenney said the future of the series depends on the fans. If there was a lot of engagement and people wanted to see more of the series, they would certainly consider it.
She said they would do it if they felt there was a real reason for it, although they have yet to see things. TVLine however, noted that Disney+ is yet to announce a specific date for the first season to air. However, in May it said that after just two episodes premiered, the series was ranked as the most-watched original series based on hours streamed during its opening weekend.
First of all, season one ended with Leia (Vivien Lyra Blair) returning home safely. Reva (Moses Ingram) conquered the dark side and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) returned to Tatooine to take care of Luke (Grant Feely).
Although the film didn’t end on a major cliffhanger, Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) was still at large. So was it enough for an Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2?
Ewan McGregor himself is hoping for another season. He told Britain’s GQ that he would be happy if he could do one of those series every now and then.
Hayden Christensen also wanted to continue playing his iconic role in the second season or another series. Although he understood that Obi-wan Kenobi was designed as a standalone story, he said the RadioTimesthat he would like to continue with his character.
He believed there was more to explore and would look forward to doing so. However, he is open to returning in Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 and reprising his role.
