Lycoris Recoil is an action anime about Takina Inoue, an extraordinarily gifted member of a syndicate called Direct Attack who raises orphaned girls to use in assassination. Although she initially appears to be an indispensable member of the group, she is kicked out of Direct Attack for an act of insubordination. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Chisato Nishikigi, a famous Lycoris child prodigy who cares little about his duties and instead focuses on helping others and making the world a little better through her small deeds.
While Takina is desperate to return to her old life, Chisato consciously tries to change her worldview by teaching her that there is more to life than violence and murder. Although the series was somewhat unpopular when it first aired, it has garnered a huge following over the past two months, earning critical acclaim for its action-packed combat sequences and world-building. Lycoris Recoil Season 2 Release Date
‘Lycoris Recoil’ Season 2 was released on July 2nd, 2022 and ended its long run just under three months later on September 24th, 2022. The anime consists of thirteen episodes with a running time of around 24 minutes each.
Fans eagerly awaiting the return of the action anime may have a long wait ahead of them. Lycoris Recoil has not been renewed by A-1 Pictures or other companies involved in the production and distribution of the series. The first season has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. Ratings on most online platforms are surprisingly high, and viewership has exceeded initial estimates.
Unfortunately, while all of these factors seem to point to a renewal of the series, it’s unlikely that the series will return any time soon. A-1 Pictures appears to be very busy in 2023, so they won’t be able to start work on the series for at least the next year. However, the likelihood of an announcement of the extension is high, during a special event recently announced for February 2023. If that proves true and we consider production along with other factors, Lycoris Recoil Season 2 will most likely return in Q3 2024.
Lycoris Recoil Season 2 Plot: What Can It Be About?
In the season 1 finale, Majima confronts Chisato. The two engage in a violent battle in which they reveal each other’s motivations and drives. It turns out that Majima wants to expose Direct Attack’s lies and break up the group. Meanwhile, Mika fights and defeats Himegawa with ease, after which he kills Yoshimatsu and obtains the heart from him.
Thanks to Takina, Chisato manages to free Majima from the tower they were fighting on. While things get back to normal after the Enkobou incident and Chisato gets the heart that Mika received from Yoshimatsu, it also turns out that Majima is still alive.
Majima is expected to hatch a new plan to take on Direct Attack in Season 2 so he can finally expose her for her lies. He will also try to break up the group, but Chisato will stand in her way as always. But her heart malfunctioned during the battle with Majima on the tower, and while her life expectancy has increased after the implantation of Yoshimatsu’s heart, the long-term consequences are still unclear, and perhaps the next season will shed some light on the matter as well.
