Is Pieck dead or alive in Attack of Titan Season 4?

January 18, 2022

After the attack on Liberio, during which the Warhammer Titan’s host is captured and eaten by Eren, the Marleyan military suffers a double blow when the Eldians also capture Zeke. Although it later turns out that he wanted to return to the island of Paradis of his own accord, Pieck’s Cart Titan and Galliard’s Jaw Titan, accompanied by Reiner’s Armored Titan, are left to take all responsibility for Marley’s military exploits afterwards.

Pieck has been at the forefront ever since, and in Season 4 Episode 16 she even takes the risk of allying with Eren and exposing the positions of her compatriots. Unfortunately, the plan backfires as not only do they not get the Founder Titan when Galliard’s Jaw Titan attacks Eren, but Pieck also loses her hand. That goes to show the risks the Jaw Titan owner has been taking lately, and Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 18 is no exception. Will Pieck survive the relentless battle between the Marlyeans and the Eldians who face each other head-on? Here’s what we know. SPOILERS AHEAD.

Does Pieck die in Attack on Titan?

No, Pieck Finger does not die in the episode titled Sneak Attack. After the Marleyans surprise the Eldians with an unexpected attack following the destruction of Liberio, the Cart Titan and the Jaw and Armored Titans know they have only one last chance to conquer the Founder Titan. While Galliard and Reiner engage in a direct confrontation with Eren, Pieck’s Titan prepares from the walls to unleash the anti-Titan mobile artillery with the help of General Magath.

She doesn’t have to wait long, as moments after the Founding Titan attacks the Jaw and Armor Titans, she takes an active part in the action. The combined efforts of the three soon seem to be having an effect, as Eren finds himself cornered. Unfortunately, this power imbalance doesn’t last long for the Marleyans, as they are soon attacked by Zeke’s Beast Titan. In just a few moments, he takes out Galliard, Reiner, and any planes slated for their evacuation after the mission is complete.

It seems all hope is lost for her as the Founding Titan slowly closes in on Zeke. When the Beast-Titan sees the carcass of Pieck’s Cart-Titan, he – like the Yaegerists – assumes that she has been finally killed. But to everyone’s surprise, General Magath, who is piloting the Anti-Titan mobile artillery, suddenly turns the rocket launcher on the Beast-Titan and delivers a violent blow to the neck. As the titan falls from the top of the wall, the Eldians feel the tension of the moment while the Marleyans can finally see some hope for themselves.

But if Pieck’s Cart Titan was killed, why was General Magath’s life spared? Didn’t the Yaegerists know he could be dangerous with the anti-titanium mobile artillery at his disposal? It turns out that Pieck’s titan wasn’t killed at all, just left the titan’s carcass behind to make it appear dead. This later proved crucial as the overjoyed Hunters and Zeke failed to recognize the threat that lay just ahead. A few moments’ head start bought Magath the time needed to execute the aforementioned attack, while Pieck, no longer in her titanic form, merely watched the proceedings by hiding under the corpse.
