Hugh Jackman reveals the preparations for Deadpool 3, in which he reprises the role of Wolverine after six years

January 9, 2023

Fans will see Hugh Jackman with his claws again in Deadpool 3, almost six years after he played the role in Logan. With the Ryan Reynolds movie hitting theaters in a year, the Australian actor is gearing up now and revealed it will be his job for six months.

In an interview on CNN and HBO Max’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? Jackman revealed that he is now embarking on his fitness journey to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. So what preparations will he make?

The 54-year-old revealed via Peoplethat he’s learned that he can’t rush to get back in shape and that it takes time. So he has six months to do it, from the end of his Broadway show The Music Man to the start of filming.

Between those two periods, the The Greatest Showman star will be doing no work other than getting fit. So he will be busy with his family and training during this time.

Despite the need to exercise, Jackman claimed he was already fit, performing, singing and dancing eight shows in a week on Broadway. So, I’m healthy, he stressed.

That puts him in a good starting position. He then apologized to the chickens and told them to walk a mile because he wanted to pick them up.

First off, the Les Misérables star and longtime friend Reynolds announced their collaboration as Deadpool and Wolverine in a video released in September 2022. At the time, Reynolds announced that he would be reprising his iconic Marvel comic book character, in contrast to Reynolds’ title role.

Reynolds joked that he’d already run out of ideas for his movie’s sequel, so he asked Jackman if he’d be willing to play Wolverine again in Deadpool 3. Yes, sure, Jackman said.

The Real Steel star had previously said on The Empire Film Podcast that like their comic dynamics, Deadpool and Wolverine will remain opposites in the upcoming film and will hate each other constantly. From his point of view, Logan is annoyed and frustrated with Deadpool.

That’s why he wants to get as far away from him as possible or smack him when they have no choice but to be together. So since they have to be together in the film, he might just have to smack him on the head a lot.

Jackman first played the role of Logan in the 2000 film X-Men. He has since played the role in 10 other films, including Deadpool 3, which is slated to hit theaters in November 2024. He is currently starring in the Broadway play The Music Man and will have his final performance on January 15th.
