Game of Thrones fans have been holding their breath since HBO announced that a Targaryen Dynasty prequel series will hit theaters in October 2019. It is based on George RR Martin’s 2018 novel Fire and Blood, which is about House Targaryen. It will be set around 200 years before the events of the HBO series Game of Thrones and will focus primarily on the politics of the Targaryen family.
With each season of Game of Thrones, fans learned more about the history of the Targaryen family, and the number of remaining family members dwindled. When Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) doused Viserys (Harry Lloyd) in molten gold for threatening his khaleesi, Daenerys, he was the first to die (Emilia Clarke). Maester Aemon (Peter Vaughan) of the Night’s Watch turns out to be the brother of Aerys II, the Mad King (David Rintoul).
When Daenerys believes she is the only living Targaryen, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) reveals that Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) is actually the son of Aegon, Daenerys’ older brother, and Lyanna Stark, Ned Stark’s younger sister. is. As Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, he would have been next in line for the Iron Throne.
While fans of the novels and TV series have reacted differently to the final season of Game of Thrones, all eyes are now on the Targaryens in anticipation of new Westerosi material rising from the ashes.
What is the story of House of the Dragon?
It’s no secret that the Targaryens are famous for their dragons. For decades their dynasty has dominated. House of the Dragon will depict the beginning of the fall of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Dance of the Dragons, the family’s civil war.
The Civil War begins over a dispute over who should succeed King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) after his death. Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, his firstborn, hopes to be the first woman to sit on the Iron Throne. Milly Alcock (Upright) will play the younger version of Princess Rhaenyra while Emma D’Arcy will play the older version (Truth Seekers). Her uncle, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), is the heir presumptive who plans to usurp the kingdom until it is revealed that Princess Rhaenyra would take the throne instead due to her birthright.

Both Rhaenyra and Daemon have made it to Dragon Riders as seen in Game of Thrones starring Daenerys and Jon Snow. They had a significant lead until the Night King killed one of the three dragons, Viserion, turning him into an undead ice dragon.
Without cheating and verifying the end of the Dance of the Dragons, one thing is certain: this civil war marked the beginning of the long decline of the Targaryen dynasty, culminating in Mad King and then Mad Queen Daenerys.
